Guess I'll give it a shot and call...I'm not really happy about having to go to Grand Prairie, TX to get it, but here in Louisiana there is NO delearship close to me that is willing to do MSRP or invoice! And I live in Baton Rouge for school and commute back home to Shreveport...what the hell...

I work in the internet department and sell and take orders on vehicles all the time over the phone/emails. Should not be a problem.

I sold a vette to a guy who lives 300 miles away in Green Bay and never met him.

wow, these dealerships really have no clue what they are talking about.

I called the closest dealership to see when I can put my name down for the waiting list.

The answer I got was... well, we have no specs yet. GM has given us no information... and the only time we'll take orders is when we hear the pricing. Then you can put your down payment on the car.

You'd think each dealership would be smart and have at least one or two Camaro experts that are keeping up on all of this information somehow. That way we don't get silly sales people that talk out of their ass.

I really felt like just telling him all of the info I've found on this website to answer his own questions lol.

So do I have to send him a down payment for the car or is this just a call and say, "Hi I wanna pre-order a camaro and heres what I want so far...(insert options), can I be placed on your list?"

It's hard as balls, but hopefully it pays off. The football on the weekends makes up for shitty school...What are you studying?

I sold vettes to Texas, California, Vermont and Florida, from Wisconsin. It's not complicated at all.

And... on top of that...

When I first started the conversation on the phone I said, "I'm calling in regards to the New Camaro."

His response was, "The 2002 Camaro?"

ugh.

Every dealer is different, but most will want a deposit before they order a car for you or even place you on the list.

Keep in mind, the dealerships aren't being told much....And there are a select few that have been on these fourms for over a year, digging for answers. Others don't even know this forum is here - nor are they watching the GM sites for any Camaro news content. they have cobalts, impala's, malibu's that are selling right now.

I'm sure that's true.

But in these perilous economic times, smart dealers should doing everything they can to get an edge on the competition.

Knowledge of product is one way to gain an edge, especially when selling to a passionate base of buyers.

This is an opportunity for dealers to make some much-needed money. I'm surprised to hear of so many shining it on.
