Lots more work / risk / disassembly for cam. Tune required as well. Other supporting items like pushrods and headers dependent on cam specs.

Do it then ! I look forward to it

When I commented, it was more for people who don't realize what 'while you're in there' means regarding a cam. It's amazing how much people get themselves involved in things that aren't educated on the subject matter

No doubt. I've got a few young guys from work that I help wrench on their cars. When you sart talking engine work, it's a system, not a single part to get yo the power you want.
I am shooting for next year to get all th mods done. It's expensive to do it right on the Z/28. LoL!

Question, I am in the middle of this right now. I realize that you have Longtubes on your car, but when I am loosening the exhaust manifolds (stock) from the rest of the exhaust, am I doing it at the end of the manifold/before the cats or the tube clamp after the cats?

ALso if at the manifold/precats, do I hit these from above? It looks like it but it looks like I can literally only get to one of them (Drivers side, outside bolt).

So an update for future posterity.... (This is Driver's side info only right now).

If you have stock exhaust manifolds, you need to unbolt them from the Cat/Resonator pipe which is also forward of the H/Midpipe.

I found an SS video where they unbolted the exhaust manifold and the cat/resonator from the H/Midpipe and it all slid out under the car.... that DOES NOT WORK with our cars, even with both heat shield pieces removed, etc. The Exhaust manifold MUST came out of the top and must be separated from the Cat/Resonator pipe.

This was all just the driver's side.... started working on remove fuel rail, intake manifold, etc so I could start on the passenger side but ran out of time for now.

Thanks for the great write up. This
helped me tremendously, taking all the
guesswork out of the head swap.
Peace of mind and some good
memories along the way.

Well, now I'm really glad I wrote the C6 Z06 LS7 headswap guide all those years ago!

That is one good looking Z/28, especially with the rim color.

Just got back from deployment. That yours? Awesome looking car man. Just pulled mine out of storage and have been beating on it. I think it missed me. Now I’m looking at cams.

!!!UPDATE!!!

12,000 miles on the AHP package 4 heads. Not a single issue. Running with a better tune now from Jannetty racing and it’s still a blast to drive. Only issue I’ve had with the car is that it’s near impossible to pump gas quickly into it due to a seemingly faulty evap canister between the fuel tank and rear subframe.

12,000 miles on these heads is great to know. Thanks again for the write up and I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you last month when we were down for track day at Daytona on labor Day. Next year...
