Traded Z and bought back
I traded my heavily modified Z for a great all arounder (GX 460). 1 week later I bought it back for exactly what they gave me as trade. When I arrived at the dealership to negotiate buying back, they informed me that it was on a trailer headed to an auction. They had the trailer bring it back. Big thanks to Park Place Lexus in Grapevine. For anyone who is a local and ever looking to buy a Lexus, I highly recommend them.
Glad to have her back. My wife told me I'd miss it. She was right. Lol. Initially, I felt I couldn't justify having the new vehicle and the Z as a weekend toy. However, some items have significant intangible value and are truly special. I put the Z in that category. I've traded a few cars and have never missed them like I missed the Z. I knew I'd made a mistake. I knew I could always buy another, but doubt I would've ever modified again (and a modded LS7 is absolutely glorious). I also have some special memories of it and my wife, kids, grandkids, etc. (that all came flooding home once sold...funny how that works) and I wanted it back. Thanks to local Z/28 buddies, Monster Z/28 and Flow Tie, for their support. It was def a first world problem and obviously it's just a car, but they understood and were super supportive and helpful throughout the process.

Generosity on their end was very high. They lost out on time / money for sure. Lucky guy you are. They just void out the paper work too? Or did you have to register it and you're now the '2nd owner'? No taxes paid?
Enjoy it!

How Cool!
I couldn't believe you traded it in but this is super cool you couldn't live without the Z I guess things happen for a reason and it shows in your case and apparently was meant to be... Welcome back |

Also, if anyone else ever goes through this process and you find you car on the lot with a big white sticker with a number and a combo of numbers and last 4 of your vin scrawled on the windshield (in that white shoe polish like stuff...), you'd better move fast, because that's a sign that it's headed to auction. Lol.

Awesome story! I'll have to remember this when in a few years there is the proverbial itch for a change. Note to self; "Keep the Z/28!"

I was in major disbelief when you posted that you traded it in considering all your posts concerning your Z/28. My gut feeling was right!
Congrats on fixing a life changing event.

Why the GX and what did you think of it? Too much like a rental?
You guys know how many times I've contemplated trading in mine. As annoying and atrocious riding as it is to drive on regular roads, when the roads clear up and you can unleash it, its just such a raw & visceral experience. And another Z isn't the same Z. |

Great news. I hate to see my friends get rid of their Z’s. You are a lucky guy to have it sitting in your garage again. Congrats!
