Paint coming off of mirrors?
Any of you guys experience this? Both if my mirrors have the paint coming off the outside edges. I go to the car washes with those motorized brushes but I've never had that happen to any other car I've ever owned.

I’ve never seen issue on any 5th gen I’ve ever owned. My 2010 SS was low build number # 12823 produced May 2009.

My 10 SS was built 8/4/09. Never even one paint issue.

Oct 09 here no issues. I wonder if they were repainted/replaced at some time in the past before you owned it?

When I grabbed a piece of the paint and pulled on it, it felt like there was no proper adhesion to it. That's also something I was thinking, that they may have been replaced at one point or another. Gonna look up on salvage yards for a new pair.

What's Going too happen? Nothing I've been using brush car washes
on my 10 year old SS since new. No damage and still looks like new.

It don’t come easy.

I’ll take my daily driver, during the winter months, to the car wash because I can’t do it in the driveway. But...do I trust the hot rod in there? ...Nope

Nothing? If it were any other color than white, you’d see it, big time. If you consider the dirt in those brushes is basically ground up rocks - from thousands of cars and trucks that passed through that wash before you, it’s like a buffing wheel with xxx grit compound on it. I watched my mother ruin several cars this way. You’ll never convince me you’re doing ‘nothing’ to these cars with their soft, shiny clear coat finish. Never.

I agree I know someone who ran their car through only 1 auto wash with the brushes multiple times and each time it came back with scratches and scuffs. They ran a White vehicle through and they never saw an issue. Colors like white & silver hide problems. Most colors you can see last issue. Last car I took through auto wash was 10 years ago a Black Trans Am so I noticed any and every scratch and scuff. |

Well do any of you have the Oracle side mirrors? If so how was fitment and finish? They seem to look pretty clean.

and detailing modern cars for as long. I use Mequires Cleaner Wax followed up with New Car Wax, detailing a panel or two every week on my '10 SS. 10 years later not one scratch, parking lot dent, wheel rash, etc. I know what it takes to keep a car looking new.
