Passport Escort Max

I just purchased the Escort Max and since I haven't read anyone here try it. I guess I get to be the first one to write an official C5 review over this particular radar detector.

Unboxing the detector it comes in its' carrying case and it comes with the power cord suction cup for a windshield and that is it. After owning a V1 holding the max in my hands made my V1 look super small and definitely out dated. I also did some research before bying a new detector. With a new car, naturally i wanted a new detector so have hard wired into my car and mounted on my rear view mirror. Both accessories which are on order since best buy only had the detector.

I drive around a pretty busy town after buying it and was very impressed with the lack of false alarms and only went off when a legit radar was being used.

It has GPS integrated and also tells you how fast you're going and if you download the app and pay the $50/year subscription you get live updates of the speed in the area you're in and also if someone else has the escort it tells you that you're coming up on a radar.

So far this detector has already surpassed my old V1. I really do wish that it had arrows, but this is so much better the arrows are no longer really that great of selling point.

I've been doing a few runs with it on I-10 and so far it has done great! I can't wait to try it out with the escort live service. It's supposed to dramatically increase the experience while driving. The downside is that in order to have it broadcast bluetooth to your phone you have to spend about $100 for the device and $50/year for the subscription. However, I've read that some people swear by the service and say it has saved their asses.

Yes, the $595 price tag is a big overwhelming, but it's worth it!

We have three 8500's and replaced one with a Max a few months ago. We don't use the Live service (we use the Waze app) but so far it's been wonderful and noticeably better than an older 8500. The range and accuracy are better than anything I've ever used or been around. Love the auto lockout for grocery stores! The supercup looks goofy but holds like a magnet too.

Yes, but I hate windshield mounted radars so I was quick to order the mirror mount and the hard wire kit and the escort live device.
