Yep, last 3-4 digit positions depending on model year.

For both 2014 and 2015 Z/28s, the VIN is either 99xxxx or 97xxxx. All Z/28s were built in sequence, therfore if you car is the 1111 built for 2015 it would be 971111. If your car was a Captured Test Fleet car, it would be 990050 for instance. There were 69 CTF cars for 2014 and 4 built in 2015.

I am looking at purchasing this Z/28 from a local dealer and trade my 12 1 SS in
2G1FS1EE5E9700049 does this mean it was #49 in 2014? |

I would be interested in seeing a list of all of the places that car has been. I feel like I have seen that car for sale on the east coast for a while, in PA, and now it is in Colorado.
