Exclamation HELP !!! I'm tired of brake dust !!!

Hello,

My camaro is a yellow ss/rs... Anyway the car gets dirty right away and I'm tired of cleaning it.. So I sometimes curtail taking it for rides because I don't want to spend 4 hours cleaning it !

Anyway.. I think the brake pads are making the dust on the sides of my car, as well as, of course, the rims.. The other day I noticed that the dirt seemed to be simliar if not the same on the sides of the car and the rims..

I figure if I can find good brake pads that don't make dust, or a differnt color dust, and less of it then they pretty much would pay for themselves because my time not cleaning the car is worth it and the cost of all the clean supplies would be less..

Has anyone had any good luck with differnt brake pads ??? I'm looking for fronts and rears.. I'd like no dust , long lasting , and no loss in stopping power, but if I can't have it all, no dust !

Please share with me any of your experiences..

Sincerely,

John

Hello,

Thanks for your answer

Any particular brand better than another ?

And are they safe with the stock rotors ?

Any loss or gain of stopping power ?

Or any noise with cermaics ?

By the way, how long do they last?

Thanks,

John

Hawk HPS will improve brake performance and dust a little less than stock. Hawk ceramics will perform about the same as stock but dust it almost zero.

The OE pads are a great pads for a performance car. They hold up very well at the track and give good service on the street. Good brake pads make brake dust. It shows they are working. I run Cobalt Friction pads on my vehicles. They are filthy dirty noisy pads, but they work great. Your Camaro is a great performance car from the factory with very good brakes. Changing out to any pad that has less dust will reduce the braking performance of your Camaro. I understand your desire to reduce the dust, but wanted to make sure you know why they are dusting. They are working exactly the way they were designed to work.

I have the Hawk ceramics, and recommend them. They do still dust, but its not nearly as much and its more gray than black so not as noticeable. But after 500 miles, you can still run your finger along a wheel and it'll be black...

I also get the occasional brake squeal rolling to a stop with the Hawk ceramics.

I've run hawks on every vehicle that I've replaced the pads on. Not dust free but much lower dust and a noticeable improvement in braking performance. When the stockers get worn they'll be replaced with hawks on the camaro too.

Don't get new pads!! unless you want to..I had the same problem and i found a good solution..i paid 8.99 for armorall wheel protectant just wash your rims, dry them and spray it all over the rim including the inside rim and let dry for one 1hr works like magic even gives the rim a great shine last up to 3-4 weeks even in the rain my rims stayed clean..i use a California duster for the side brake dust but since i used this stuff i don't get much brake dust at all..

I know what you are going thru. Try this...Go to Wal-Mart and pick up a bottle of Meguairs wheel cleaner. You wet your wheels and spray the magis sauce on and let it for 30 seconds then rinse and towel dry. Simply the best thing I have found at least so far!
