Why Such Poor Lease Rates?

Has anyone else noticed how the 6th gen Camaro has significantly worse lease rates than the 5th gen's had? What is up with that?

I'm talking about the total cost of the lease, compared to the total cost of the car. A 3 year lease on my 2013 Camaro ended up costing me something like $11,000 total. A similarly priced out 2018 Camaro comes in at about $15000 for a 3 year lease. It's like they've lowered the residual values wayyyyy down.

Federal Interest Rates have gone up, effectively increasing most rates across the board for any kind of borrowing, and going up again soon IIRC.

Yes, with both cars configured to be the same selling price, a 2016 is thousands more than my 2013 was. They were a great deal a few years ago. Not so great any more.

Resale on Camaros ain't great at the moment. So lease rates on Camaros are going to remain high.

Resale values suck. People are getting offers of 27k ( for a 48-50k when new) 2ss with 10k miles. I know someone who was offered 25k for his 1le with 5000 miles .

Don't buy this car for its resale value....

If resale is that bad then it says to me that Camaros are not quality vehicles.

I’m curious, why do you guys love them so much when GM clearly is putting out a bad product.

It also makes me wonder why salesmen act like they are selling a Lamborghini when I talk to them.

The market doesn’t lie.

Hmm.. that seems about 10k below market for a 1LE. Just because someone got lowballed, doesn't mean that is the true value of the car.

My friend bought a 2SS for 34k and sold it for the same price 5k miles later.

I’m seriously considering one but as soon as I get ready to pull the trigger I get reminded of the timing chain wearing out too soon and the rattling issue....

I agree the high lease prices are due to low resale value when returned, this is not a car you going to buy and see it hold values, just buy it and enjoy the ride, you only live once and time flies.

Lol, good luck on the trade in at the dealer. There is a difference between trade in values and retail values. Unless you are a dealer, I don't see how you will get retail for your car unless you find the right buyer who doesn't care about the money

Don't buy ANY car for resale values. Better?

I've been checking lease rates for the 6th gen since 2016 and it didn't drop one bit, I've called dealers in the spring time summer time and christmas time and its all the same exact numbers, one dealer gave me a quote for $910 a month $1500 due at signing 10k miles per year 24 months lmaoooo they seriously do act they're selling a lambo....meanwhile dodge is leasing the scat pack for $400 a month and I know some ppl got it for less than that.

I've come to the conclusion that Camaro's are for buying not leasing.
