Since reps of GM have said that they would not use the Z28 logo on any car that is not worthy of its hallowed reputation I doubt that anyone would take a V6 Z28 rumor seriously. I would not be surprised to see a V6 version with the SS brakes and suspension, that combo would kick but on most other brands top cars. I am sure they won't call it a Z28 though.

I doubt it'll happen.
Here's a few more things to consider. 1. Just because there are two less cylinders doesn't mean the V6 is a "lighter" or "smaller" motor. DOHC engines have very large cylinder heads and some weigh as much as if not more than pushrod V8s. Pushrod V8s are very efficiently packaged. for example: V6 replaced with LS2 and the LS2 seems to fit even better. 2. The weight difference between the LT and SS has been attributed to suspension components. If you slap on big 14 inch rotors and heavier duty everything pretty much, you'll have a V6 car weighing more than an SS because it has 2 turbos on it. 3.A twin turbo V6 putting out around 500hp wouldn't be very fuel efficient and GM would have to go through the trouble of certifying a new engine which is a costly process. Although I have no doubt the engine would put out plenty of torque because that's what turbocharged engines are known for. |

I think the LSA from the CTS V would keep the price more reasonable and be the more logical class competitive choice. The LS9 would be great, but the Camaro having 140 more hp than the c ar we all think it's supposed to compete with (GT500) seems like overkill and would not make sense for GM because it would likely put the price way over that of the GT500.

They wouldn't make a six-cylinder Z/28
It would offend the target market for that car. |

I don't agree with the "a V6 is not worthy" sentiments...but I do agree with the consensus that the Z28 won't be a V6....
I DO (very much) like the idea of the V6 being equipped with the SS's suspension and brakes as an option. That would be kick-ass!!! But don't slap a Z28 badge on that... |

This rumor is silly.
It sounds like all the V6 haters will get their come-upins when they test drive one when the car arrives at dealers just to see what all the hype is about. The underdog is on top.

Maybe. This is what I noticed though. At least for the cars, well only being the Malibu and Impala I guess. But there isn't an LTZ trim for the Cobalt, and there isn't a LTZ trim for the Corvette. So I'm guessing the Camaro would follow suit and probably also not having an LTZ trim as well. The "LTZ" just sounds like it's more for a sedan. However the LT"Z" would be kinda cool actually.
sorta like an LTZ/RS and the LTZ would just have everything that the 2LT has but in addition the SS suspension or something. And that way GM doesn't have to give it the Z28 name... I'm sure it would probably cost the same as a base SS though, so who knows if anyone would go for it. There's just too much to speculate and I'm getting tired of doing it. I'm just going to wait...
