Car Cover

Hello, I just recently ordered my camaro but the dealership and Chevrolet online chat help was unable to find out one question I had about an accessory that you can order for the camaro.

That accessory being the Car cover that is listed on the chevy site as a dealer installed option. I had two questions about it first one is the cover breathable? and the last is a two part question does it have any sort of locking mechanism and if so does it come with the equipment to lock it or would I have to go out and buy those pieces?

Thanks,
Oh and only 8-11 weeks now till I finally get to drive it

I can't answer your questions directly. However, I've seen the dealer available cover, and find it's not worth the outrageous price they're charging. The cover is made of a canvas material, just like camping tents, and for the price they charge, I would expect a lot better quality cover.

I have a suggestion, and it's up to you if you follow through. I, along with many other forum members across this great continent, have purchased from Hugger Covers. Here is the link, tell them you're on the forum, and Frank sent you. I personally have bought my second from them, I used to have one with my '80 vette. Great durable, breathable, thick material, you can get more info when you speak to Marsha.

The cover is basically nylon. I keep it on my car in the winter in the garage. It has a couple of loops sewn in on the back of a couple of seams to attach a lock. It also looks like there are 2 hidden gromits in the bottom for putting a lock on it if you so choose. (I think that's what those are for. I've never put a lock on mine as it is garage kept.)

I would NOT pay the outrageous price the chevy dealers get for them. You can find them a lot cheaper in the members classifieds section here in the forums, on ebay, or from gmparts direct. I got mine for $200 here in the forums.

It's an ok cover, but if I had it to do over again, I'd probably go to California Car Cover and get a Noah.

southerncarparts.com has a decent one I use..breathable, but it is a good product. I needed an outdoor cover until I finally move into a house and get away from outdoor parking

Check Cover Craft. Great cover, lasted over 3 years in AZ sun on my Solstice, now one is on the Camaro. Reasonable price.

if your car is going to be in a garage then get a car cover to keep dust off of it, but if your car is going to be out side, DO NOT get a car cover, no matter what it will collect mold under it & mold on your paint. & it will also scratch your paint in the wind & rain.

I ordered a NOAH cover from Covercraft. 4 layers, breathable, and waterproof.

I got a 'NOAH' cover from covercraft, best indoor/outdoor cover around IMO.

I bought the SLP fitted cover from LMPerformance.com. It fits really well and comes with the locking cable and a lock. It was $189.

I recommend the cover I have.... I call it "garage". LOL

I think Chevy has an indoor cover and outdoor cover... and they do appear overpriced.
