Custom Tune

Getting ready to commit to my header, exhaust system and CAI. I wll be doing the install myself. I know I will need a tune when done. However, I don't know of a good place in my area to do this. Can I get a tune sent to me from someone? What would be required for me to do this? Could I buy a handheld and have tunes added? Sorry, but I'm an old school guy and just don't understand all the computer tuning stuff quite yet.

Janetty or Vector seems to be the choice of Champs around here.

Jannety can be PM'd and his info is here:
http://www.jannettyracing.com/

Kirk at VMS is also very helpful and can be PM'd as well.

VMS has a "lifetime" tune included with their pricing. Keep that in mind when mulling prices.

Janetty is VERY customer service oriented and is willling to do whatever is needed to help you out.

I don't think that you could go wrong with either.

Best of luck,
-Ivan

So they could sell me a tuner with a custom tune to meet my needs? Would they change it if I change my car more?

If you're talking about VMS in reference to "they" then the answer would be yes. The claim that they will send you a new tune if needed for the changes in modifications as long as you own the car.

Of course, PM them for the fine print but this seems like a more than fair deal.

I can and will say that you should PM Tim Janetty from JMS as well. I know he has some really great deals on some of his stuff as well. Like "buy the tuner and a custom tune is included in the price."

He'll also match prices and do what it takes to earn your business if he can do it.

If you plan on tweaking your own tune, this is rather true.

But if you are just needing a tune, then one of the two mentioned would be my best reccomendation to you.

They're here in the forums daily and give excellent support and service. Both are willing to answer just about any question you can throw at em as well.

You don't have to tune it with those mods. You will get more out of it with a tune, but you don't have to tune it. The only issue you will have is that you will get a check engine light on due to the header installation, but it won't hurt your car. You just have to live with the light on, and check every so often to make sure no other codes have come up. If you don't want to look at the light, then yes you need a tune.

I will certainly be able to hook you up.

Shoot me an Email and I will send you an estimate or give me a call if you can.

Ted.
