Question Hotchkis problems :(

hey guys, i installed front and rear hotchkis sway bars about a week ago. about 3 to 4 days ago they started making like a squeaking noise every time i would hit a bump or something on the road. its pretty annoying. i called the shop that installed them for me and they said that it was normal for aftermarket sways to do that and that the guys there did torque everything to the right numbers. the shop is really reputable too. any suggestions from you guys that could help me fix this problem?

also, the front is the only one that seems to be making noise, the back is completely fine.

thanks in advance!

It's not normal for sways to be making noises. Maybe the end links are binding or hitting the spring. Get a flashlight and see if you see any rub marks.

Send a pm to Mike @ hotchkis and see if they can take care of it if you are local.

Squeaking is a caused by a dry sway bar D bush. Take your car back to the shop and have them re-grease the inner portion of the front sway bar d bushes.

Thank you Justicepete for the reply. I would do exactly as he said and take it back to the shop that did the install and have them properly grease the bushing. If the squeeking is still present give me a call.

i went to the shop today and they re-greased everything and its still squeaking. they did do an alignment on the car after they put on the front sway bar, if that makes a difference?

That doesn't sound right All you had done were sway bars, correct? Please get with Michael.

and do you guys just think its the sways themselves? ive been going to this shop for a while and i know they can easily do a simple sway bar installation. so im not sure what the real problem is :(

The odds against the sway bar being bad and causing a squeak are about 1,000,000 to 1. It is a powder coated steel tube. What could go wrong with it For some reason, the bush is dry and squeaking. Michael will help you sort it out.

My guess is there is a dry spot or two. It could be some debris got in there.
