50-60 hp is what this car needs and I would buy it tomorrow from a dealer if it was offered. Repeatable 1/4 mile times in the 11:90 range would be nice.

I would think it would be all engine related.... That should really help the ZL1 across the board.

Photoshop. But the car is a real Tenth Ann car right now with 79 bumpers. The front is just a bolt on. You have to change the steel piece under the cover, and then you put the 78 bumper cover on it. Now the rear bumper, that you would have to cut the tail panel out and replace it with a 77-78 and then put the bumper on. I plan on doing both.

The car is a project, original motor is long gone. So here i come LS? motor and t56.

IMO, the car should run 11.9 @ ~120 mph on a good day. The HP to weight supports it. Nobody is going to run reall well in Jun/Jul/Aug, but I still wonder if something in the nannies is holding it back a bit.

We'll see come fall.

Have you ever seen a GMPP intake or headers yet for the 5th gen?

From SEMA show 2008.

Performance parts ““ GM Performance Parts (GMPP) designers and engineers worked with the Camaro engineers to develop emissions-legal bolt-on components that would accentuate and enhance overall performance.
GMPP developed air box, header and exhaust kits, as well as complementing short-throw shifters for manual-transmission applications. Also available are color-coordinated engine covers that add a dash of color-coordinated style under the hood. All the components are 50-state emissions legal, with CARB EO numbers where required.
Details of the performance parts include:
– Air box kits include an open-element, performance air filter for lower restriction and a great-looking, performance-style housing, with a chrome lid for a true tuner appearance. They’re available for V-6 and V-8 applications
– Exhaust kits upgrade the look and sound of the Camaro and are offered in quieter street-legal systems and off-road-only kits. Different applications are designed to work with or without the Camaro accessory ground effects package
– Headers enable exhaust gases to be carried away from the engine quicker, boosting the engine’s airflow efficiency and overall performance. GMPP’s bolt-on header kit for V-8 engines is emissions-legal and a simple bolt-in replacement for the factory exhaust manifolds. Match them with one of GMPP’s exhaust kits for even greater performance
These item were listed in the 2010 or 2011 GM Performance Parts book. The axle back exhaust still is but the headers and CAI no longer show. I just don't understand why GM doesn't just put the parts on the car to begin with as a track pack or something.

I think for two reasons!

1. People don't want to get their hopes up:(
2. The Mustangs guys don't want to lose hope, that we get our hope

Back on subject, the ZL1 with a little more HP....... GAME OVER

GM lets GIT R DONE .... PP upgrades for the 12/13 and a super ZL1 in 2014 when I get mine

Agreed Icepick....as it stands weight is not likely to come out of the ZL1, the suspension is great...so the 1 of 3 would be a HP increase. The validation process is always the obstacle. I trust (and truely hope) they are looking to make a factory stage 2 LSA upgrade soon. What other plausible improvement(s) can Chevy make to put the ZL1 back on top, convincingly? The GT 500 is a great car, more of a unrefined brawler with over the top HP as opposed to the Gran Touring bells and whistle's ZL1. The ZL1 scores more points across many different levels of comparison but it's not as singularly focused. I want more power for the ZL1. It is able to easily handle way more power and stay glued to the ground. This stuff we all already know. But, with the lack of aggressive engine building at GM I ask this...should Chevy leave the ZL1 as it is because "validation" is too big of a problem for them and then produce a LPE style L28/Z28 in '14? That car has been widely discussed over on the Z/28 board. I wonder where exactly we are going before the model change coming very soon. Food for thought.

I could certainly believe that GM will answer the Mustang HP boast with some parts of their own. Anyone who ever watched "factory parts" on Chevy Cobalts would realize they know their business. Stage 1 and 2 kits were not all that expensive and especially attractive when it did not void warranties. Do it! GM for the ZL1 gang!

If this is true, then its not bad as a band-aid (so long as your warranty stays intact).

I am still longing for a permanent power fix though....staying tuned.

I had these upgrades on my cobalt SS and loved them, it was just what that little car needed and I went with them because the factory warranty remained. GM needs to put out some PP for the ZL1! I will buy them if they do!
