Not carbon fiber Can you wax?

I have my carbon fiber insert with the factory black non print thru finish. Can this finish be waxed?

I wouldn't - it would more than likely be shiny afterwards.

The original matte black inserts should NOT be waxed.

Use painter's tape to cover it while you wax the rest of the car. Care instructions for that particular piece should be in the owner's manual somewhere.

If it is, indeed, a 2012 matte black insert: DO NOT WAX IT. You'll ruin the finish.

But you can and should polish the painted insert. Right?

Yes. The only inserts that cannot be polished are the few 2012s that actually got the matte black insert.

The exposed CF insert is clear coated so it's the same as paint and can be polished and waxed as desired.

The Ashen Gray Metallic insert is painted the same way as any other body part and then clear coated like the rest of the car. And as such can also be waxed/polished as desired.
