It isn't the unions. It's the Camaro selling better than Mustangs so much that Ford has decided to reduce production to meet demand.

You know the Camaro has been selling slower than the Mustang since the 2011 Mustang hit the streets. Your statement is illogical but calling you a troll would do no good.

Ford can still make 100K+ Mustangs per MY with 1 shift.

There are more Mustangs on lots everywhere. I just drove by a Chevy dealer and a Ford dealer today. Imagine having 11 months of limited sales. Suddenly, a bunch of incentives start and the Mustang outsells the Camaro for 1 month. There are a lot of 2010 Mustangs out there and not many 2010 or 2011 Camaros. The problem Ford is having is that people would rather buy the 2011 model, so they are trying to give buyers an incentive to buy 2010 leftovers by reducing 2011 production. Of course, Ford can make plenty of cars using one shift, but the idea is to sell what is on the lot, not what is on the way. Go to any dealer and ask if they would rather sell what they have than what they have on the way, and they'd rather sell something present.

That is correct. Eleven is larger than two. The first month of incentives gave Ford the push to outsell the Camaro for the second month. I wasn't clear enough when I referred to those incentives.

You're a Mustang guy. Would you rather have the 4.6L or the 5.0L? I'd rather go with the 5.0L if it were me. There's almost no selling point to the remaining 2010 models that don't pack the same power. In order to make those worthy of selling, Ford has to reduce the production of new Mustangs so people will have to choose to wait for their Mustangs or buy off the lot. People are impatient, and those who don't want to wait but still want a Mustang will happily buy a 2010 model. It doesn't look good to have too many of the same cars on the lot for too long.

I'm not disrespecting the Mustang by pointing out that incentives were necessary to sell the previous Mustang or current Mustang. I am pointing out the reality of business. The Mustang has returned to the top spot with those incentives, and that is good for Ford. They still have eleven months of lower sales numbers to make up. Once again, I'm not disrespecting Ford for having lower sales numbers. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. It means, however, that there are more Mustangs on lots today than there are Camaros on lots today. When those numbers are more even, we'll see those incentives go away.

With all the incentives on 2010 Moustangs, you should not be surprised.

Easily would rather have the 5.0. That isn't even in question. But their are plenty of mustang buyers that could care less. I am sure they will get the 10s sold and yes the incentives are needed right now.

I don't know if the Camaro is especially popular here in Phoenix, but i just never see a 2010 mustang. It's been out a year and i can literally count them on one hand that i've seen. I see more Challengers, and i see Camaro's every time i go anywhere.
And 2010 V6 mustang's are being advertised around here for 15K.
