This feels like Deja Vu, last year this time we had the car completely strip and painting it for SEMA. Here we are again doing the same thing. Its a totally different car from what had envision then.

Doesn't there come a point in time where you have to finalize a design? I love coming to this thread and seeing the progress but want to see it complete. Starting to become the never ending project.

Ah man, you guys have to go to SEMA, I think this will be the only time in my life that I will get to attend the show. I wanted to see your car so bad.

Sorry let you guys down. We wanted to get there as much as anybody! We took the summer off from school to make sure the car got finished. Last week we painted the underside and engine bay. We didn't put enough flatting agent in the clear came out glossy. No big deal, we were just going to repaint it. Next Murphy hit us with both rear quarter panels getting ding which meant we would have to repaint them. Something we weren't planning on doing. No big deal but when we don't paint cars. Which means we have to depend on others. Unfortunately "others" schedule aren't in sink with our time line. Last year we pushed to get it there and spend $7,500 on a paint job just to have to redo it again this year. Its too much emotional drain and we aren't going to push it just to get it done. We already learned that lesson once. It sucks big time as we feel we could had had a chance to get a GM design award and gotten perhaps an invite to the Optima but it is what it is. The car will get finish and we will beat the crap out of it tracking it. Anyways we have been busy and haven't had a chance to update the thread much or even answer PM's . The rear cradle is done. Justin flew back from being at Penske in PA were he assembled the racing struts for G5.R. These are the same shock on the Z28R. Interesting the engineers at Penske said that G5.R should have more grip the Z28R race cars. Justin is also designing and building all the lower control arms. It's alright guys, we are still here supporting and cheering you on. We are all living through you on this build. It is hard, draining, but when it's gets tough, is when you guys get good. It will get done, when it's ready to get done. We are all here for the ride, and to dream about having a car like that, in our own garage.
Keep pushing. |

Yeah, don't worry about it, I just wanted to see your sweet car in person. I don't know how stringent GM is on their awards, and I don't know what other cars are going to be out there at the show, but I think that your car will kill the competition when you do bring it out. Keep up the great work. I look forward to be amazed by you guys for another year.

Just though I post for fun some of the work thats gone into the rear seating area. There's over a 100 hours of in this area alone. Every spot weld and been made smooth. There's so much work that you wont know was done unless you could see two cars side by side. Lets just say this is really clean. The red circles give somewhat of an idea of all the holes that have been deleted. We decided to flatten out the hump in the red box for a cleaner look. |
