July Road trip down PCH

My wife and kids are taking a road trip in July to drive down the PCH. Can anyone fill us in on some must see or epic places to eat? Got some time to plan so any help would be great. Of course we will be driving our 2010 Camaro SS so if there are some stops that are just off the beaten path were interested in those too. Would love to see if we could catch a cruise night, drive in car show or Camaro meet would be awesome as well.
Let us know your thoughts,
Thanks!

Have you decided where you are going to begin and to end on PCH?
The following web site is encyclopedic in covering SoCal car events. Suggest you check as you plan your route.

Thanks for that. Going to start up in San Fran and make our way south. I don't think we will make it all the way down to LA.

As someone who has driven the entire West Coast from Washington to So Cal, you are in for an epic drive from San Fran...

Big Sur is simply spectacular. If you have the time, check out Hearst Castle in San Simeon (been there twice); it's pretty amazing, and the kids should dig it. There are also spots to see large groups of Elephant Seals in San Simeon; they're pretty cool...

Morro Rock in Morro Bay is worth a stop.

There's really not much after Morro Bay to see or do until Santa Barbara. If you don't plan on going farther than Morro Bay, you might want to check out San Luis Obispo which is about 1/2 hour inland, or if you want to stay near the coast, Avila is a pretty cool little town.

Morro Bay is your best bet for a cruise or car show anywhere before Malibu, but you'd have to check to see if they have anything going on when you'll be there (doubtful to be honest).

What day or days are you taking this drive? And do you think you'd make it down to the Malibu area?

Well, if you plan on being on the road more than a day, you'd want to head down to Malibu/Venice/Hollywood/Beverly Hills.

Near Mailbu is the famous Rock Store on Mulholland Hwy. I've met tourist from all over the world up there... Best day is Sunday, but be extremely careful driving on Mulholland on a Sunday, a lot of dangerous driving goes on up there, and there can also be abundant law enforcement in the area.

Venice beach is definitely something to experience, and/or you can head into Hollywood or drive through Beverly Hills.

Sunday mornings there are cars shows in Woodland Hills (about 1/2 hour inland) & Mailbu. In Malibu they're the 1st & 3rd Sunday, and rather small, but right on the coast on your way to Venice beach if you plan on going there.

The ones in Woodland Hills are on the 1st Sunday of the month and are pretty big.

Both shows are early in the morning, so plan accordingly.

If you plan on visiting Hearst Castle, be sure to a book one of the tours well in advance...
