After the results of the GT PP vs 1LE, I'm starting to think the GT350 may not be as hardcore as we expect. It may come out as a BOSS 302 replacement instead of the Z/28 fighter most think it will be.

It will be interesting to see. When you hear talk of it having the largest displacement flat-crank engine on the market (eclipsing Ferrari), you figure they're serious. Only time will tell...

This result puts to rest all that chatter about the BOSS LS vs. 1LE times being "different drivers on different days" malarkey the Ford fans insisted on spreading.

It's now obvious Ford's benchmark was set too low for the GT PP.

Well, Randy gave the nod to the Z/28 as best car over a lot of uber-expensive exotic foreign cars.....I think the Mustang had an up-hill battle for sure to be better than a car that is 90% a Z/28....

Same driver, for sure makes it fair....but there is still human nature, and Randy already liked the Camaros, granted it was a Z/28....just sayin'.....

haha, I've actually been over on the Mustang forums and he's making all sorts of excuses. Saying that in "real" SCCA racing, etc that the 1LE can't hold its water and hasn't been doing well. So basically there is nothing to worry about.

If you recall, Randy drove HIS BOSS LS @ Barber when first testing the Z/28. Deeds speak louder than words.

I lurk over there occasionally and they are in full denial mode over the 1LE vs GT PP.

Every time I go in the GT350 vs Z/28 thread, thePill claims the 2016 Camaro will be even heavier.

He just said that because the 2015 GT PP closed the gap with the 1LE, the next gen SS is doomed. Only a completely biased moron could create that logic.

Take an ATS coupe weight and then add the difference between an V8 and V6 Camaro. Add the extra few pounds for the LT1 (I recall it was 30 pounds heavier??) and you will be within 100 pounds.

Everyone keeps wanting a 3400 pound SS and I don't think that will happen. I would guess the Gen6 may be lighter but I predict instead of being 72 pounds heavier in the review the Camaro may be lighter by 72 by the 2016 MY.

If the base 6th gen SS is between 3,650 to 3,750 lbs, I would be pretty damn happy. Now add in 455 horsepower and 460 lb*ft of torque and that gets pretty damn exciting.

I think if all in, like the Corvette, if they give us tech and a wonderful interior and we get 3,700 pounds for an SS we will be extremely happy with the result.

Given what they've proven they can do with the Fifth Gen in general and the Z/28 in particular, I agree!
