Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I appreciate you posting your build here. I have decided to do an active 3 way front stage. I want to reinforce the mid bass as much as possible.

I am actually going on Tuesday to listen to the Hertz Mille, Audison Voce, and German Maestro Status line(original MB Quart Designer from the 90s). Supposedly there is a shop in San Diego that has them all installed in vehicles that I can listen to.

When we exchanged pm's, you answered some questions for me about sound deadening. I kept researching and spoke with multiple shops. You were right about the amount of material. I ordered 4 bulk packs of Stinger Roadkill for the first layer.

The dynapad that they used on your vehicle is an absolute must if you want to quiet the road noise. For those that aren't familiar, dynapad has a layer of foam, a layer of 1 lb/per sq ft vinyl, and a second layer of foam. The foam serves as a decoupling layer and the vinyl is a mass loaded barrier.

I found a company that specializes in sound deadening for commercial and marine applications. They sell many versions of dynapad. They carry a 1/2, 1, and 2lb version. They sell in bulk. I was able to get 4'x8' sheets of the 2 lb vinyl layer for $90. I am going for 100% coverage. I will also be applying the 1" accoustic batting to the back of my panels. Here is the link:
http://www.soundprooffoam.com/

I'll post a thread when I get a chance to install it. I'm still deployed, so I'll let you know when I get started. I just wanted to thank you for your help. Sorry for the confusion, but I'd been celebrating prior to typing, never good.

It's hard to tell online. How well does the color and texture of the Scosche kit match the stock trim?

Does the 9990HD allow you to use the steering wheel controls?

Did you get the XMSirius add on also?

The firmware update for the scoshe kit did not fix the steering control issue. My guess is because this is a brand new radio and it may be different from the previous 9980 model. My installer is communicating with scosche R&D to try to find a fix. If that doesn't pan out my installer would make it work but I don't really care for it so haven't got him to do it.

I did not get satellite radio. It does come with hd radio and it sounds clean to me. I stick with iPod though

Styphon. I never updated this thread to post the workaround for the steering wheel control to work on the scosche/kenwood 9990. See the attached PDF. Had it done like 2 months ago and no problems with sterring wheel controls

Love your install!!!

Camarograna2,
Absolutely love everything you've done to your car, it rocks!!
As I have a rally Yellow 2011 SS myself, I am planning on doing several of the same things youve done, to mine. I purchased the same dash kit, i am in the process of dynamating the car as we speak.
I'd like to know several things from you, if you would be so kind,
1, how are you liking that Kenwood head unit? I have been struggling with the decision to purchase it, or the pioneer single DIN 99rs. However, i'm starting to lean towards the Kenwood. I'm not that interested in the navigation part of it, but looks like it has quite a few other interesting things going for it.
2. Would you be interested in building and selling some of the tweeter pods you have built? I am as well interested in the Hertz brand of speakers, and i'm taking for granted they are serving you well?? I don't know where to obtain them as of yet, but several brands of tweeters will not fit in the stock pods.
3. can u tell me more about the Kenwood/Scosche pair up, and how well the work together, or are there anything (shortcomings) i should be aware of, I do understand there is some hard wiring to do to keep the steering wheel controls working? That is about all ive heard so far.
Any help is much appreciated

thanks again
