The number of black cars I have had far exceeds the number of fingers I have. My last few were 06 CTS-V, 01 Prelude, 98 Accord, 93 accord, 94 Prelude, 69 Chev truck

When I don't buy black, I get white......as in my Camaro...I can sympathize. In this case I simply thought the Camaro lines and grille and windows stood out better in white

Any one have any idea what it would cost to paint a full Camaro..

JAB........ If I am not mistaken.... you might could have the current paint roughed up a bit with sanding liquid... just a little, and have 2-4 coats of clear put on. Have you heard if CLEAR on TOP in proper depth would hide the scratch marks? I don't think they would show up as much since the scratches would not actually be IN the black paint but on the clear part... AND YES you might make it worth your while by adding some FLAT BLACK and other stripes UNDER the clear and you may have just gotten yourself into a BIG SMILE I've also heard you CAN use a FLAT CLEAR COAT OVER BLACK!!

just a thought.. check with a show paint shop

Have you considered wrapping the car instead of painting it. The matte black looks cool!

Ive had a white car, and I currently have a silver truck, and those two colors are probably the best at hiding the light swirls, small scratches and light dust/dirt. Both of them appear to be pretty clean even with a layer of dust, and then when you clean them its like Whoa!!....now she looks really good!

To the OP: I feel your pain, I too own a black Camaro, and it gets dirty fairly easily. I have to wash it at least once every 7 days or else it looks like the "desert" pic posted earlier.

I came from owning a silver car, and I must say that silver hides scratches/dirt best out of every possible color out there- I regret (just a little) getting my car in solid black as opposed to getting CGM with black stripes.

Also, what's up with black not getting a cool name like Silver Ice Metallic or Summit White or Imperial Blue Metallic? =(

A new 5th gen Camaro is a terrible thing to waste.
Besides, my trip to Valdosta Ga and Miami last April was a blast. Just can't park it and many here have way far more miles than me. Sorry for the Jack.

Silver hides dirt very well. I had a silver (the charcoalish...not actually "silver") 350Z and it never really looked "dirty" like non-metallics and black does.

You know, white isn't so much of an innocent either. White can look 10x more dirty than black. It shows dark dirt whereas black shows light dirt. You want maximum hiding of dirt, you need to get silver.

I don't care how dirty black cars get. Those few days after a wash where it looks pristine is worth the pain. :P
