Scrmings IAT Mod
I have been reading it and I was wondering are there any real benefits for this mod? It seems like the people that tried it got amazing results however I am confused as to how it works. Is it only noticeable at a certain temperature?

My original thread:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ght=experiment IAT = Intake Air Temp... The stock intake and IAT sensor suffer from heat soak... short story... cool morning car ran GREAT! Get the car up to operating temp and then park the car for 15 to 20 minutes... Car now feels much more sluggish... even after driving around town for a while. Found the IAT temps were very high and took a long time to "recover". This IAT mod, while not perfect, help eliminate that... |

I was just reading that. Interesting theory. I swear, sometimes I really got to stop and think about some of these acronymns. Good read though.

It works really really well! My temps dropped quite a bit and the car runs better.

Did it to my Injen intake and it seemed to work. According to my Ultra-Gauge before I did it, temps seemed to be around ambient temps. However after the IAT mod it dropped to be about 10-15 degrees below ambient temps.

So if you don't still have the stock airbox, where is the best place to mount this?

Jeff, i noticed in your sig you already have the jet maf sensor. I dont think scrming's iat mod will work with you since your maf is already reporting way colder iat than stock. Do you have a way to check your iat temp?

but it is a false reading? Or does the Jet MAF really work? People say it is just a good paper weight and does not help the engine in any way?

I don't see any difference with the Jet MAF. I was told by the guy at the speed shop, when i first set up the nitrous, that it would be good... Said it was a higher quality. Psshht. I don't know. I read somewhere a short time later, that they are pretty much.the same as the OEM one, that came on the car. My understanding of how it works is alittle shaky. It heats an element in there, and measures the air needed to cool it, and the Jet was supposed to be more acurate. That's why when i saw this thread, I was curious as to this being any different.
