Looking for an aggresive cam setup thats just under the G6X3
Hey guys!
I have been bouncing around the idea of going with the G6X3 cam but I kinda didn’t want to run the biggest badest cam out there. This car will NOT be a daily driver once the cam install is done. I’m pretty set on going through a local tuner here in socal, because i like to be close to mine. So I will probably go with either a custom grind or bring a kit to him. So I was wondering what cam specs/cam kits you would recommend for a stage just under the G6X3, I know LG doesn’t release specs on their cams so it might be hard to give me actual specs. So far the only cam I think that falls in that category just under the G6X3 in power level is the Vengeance stage lll cam (231/243 .614/.6.24, 115+3) I’m assuming this because it makes just a little less in power then the G6X3. ANY OTHERS? So any recommendation on cams that are still aggressive but not the biggest and badest welcome!! Thanks guys! (spec’s preferred)

I would call cartek, they have the badest stock cube N/A 6 speed out there! I am shure they can get you what you want, biggest does not mean fastest, the hole thing has to work together or its just a over cammed pig!

According to them they had to fly cut. Which is not required on the g6x3. From the looks of it so far the g6x3 and carteks large cammed cars are indeed the fastest on the track. None of the smaller cammed cars have even came close so far. One will run into problems with a large cam if they dont run enough compression...this will make them even lazier down low. LG recommends in the neighborhood of 11.5.1 compression on the g6x3 h/c builds. |

Very drive-able and makes ~480rwhp. My third choice would be the JRE 470hp cam. |

I love the 231-236 cam, turns heads everywhere I go and just flat out performs!! I've seen them make from 470-500 and 480/454 with 1 3/4 inch headers is great!! I can't wait to see 490/460 with the 1 7/8 stainless power!! Plus I'm hoping the 3.91's make the car feel that much torquier and put me in the powerband sooner!!

Couple things.
Your idle tone will change with the A/C active Do not choose your cam based on how it sounds. Have your tuner make it sound like you want it. You dont have to go supersize to get good performance. The larger cam you install, the more you lose off the line and the larger stall you'd need.......and budget for gears to re-coop that light to light fun. I like the LG cams. I like the 231/236 TSP cam. Id go with the 231/236 on a 112 LSA. You'll still go real fast. You'll have a little lower number on your dyno sheet ( about 10-15 less), and have slightly better drivability. Add a FAST 102. No additional stress on the valve springs, no low end driving issues, and gain the RWHP you lost with the smaller cam. A couple years ago, a 23x cam used to be huge. Now its like the norm. www.TampaTuning.com |
