LS3... again

I know we've all speculated about what enegine they'll drop in the V8 and have ruled out the LS3 because it's not supposed to be ready in time, but I was bored @ work and started purusing the Chevy website to kill time and saw this info for the 2008 Vette:

CoupeCorvette2008 Coupe: Starts at $46,950*
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Highlights:
NEW standard 430-hp 6.2L LS3 V8 aluminum-block engine
NEW available dual-mode exhaust system provides 436 hp and 428 lb.-ft. of torque...

Now I'm probably just behind the ball on things because I don't keep up to date about GM developments as much as others here do; but if the 6.2L LS3 is in the '08 Vette... why couldn't it be in the '10 Camaro?

Given that the G8 GXP will have it my guess is that we will find it in the Camaro as well. I sure as hell hope we do.

I've read it all over the place on here for months; countless debates on LS3 vs LSA vs LZ6 vs LS-new mystery engine. I would bet my dollar on the LS3 after seeing this since Chevy has a habit of dropping detuned vette engines in camaro's. Maybe they won't detune it this time since Lutz said that matching vette hp wouldn't be a concern this time aorund because vette are in a breed of their own.

We know the V8 will be 6.2L and the LS3 has never been ruled out. Only thing is that Fbodfather said "forget all you know about engines." We're about 90% sure the LS3 is going in the camaro. It could be the L76 but with the information of the LS3 in the new GXP, it's even more likely for me that we'll be getting it. =)

just cus a lot of people speculate about it on a forum doesnt mean GM is going to follow our words. tho i have stated from the beginning that the LS3 will make it into the new camaro, and from the looks of it an LSA/LS9 variant will be in the Z28

The only engines that have been confirmed to be out of the picture are the LS2 and the LS7.

+1 I believe the LS3 will make it into the base V8 slot. I'm hopefully we'll see around 550 horse in a year or two in the top V8.

Gen V engines won't be ready in time. the LS3 is a gen IV though. It already exists. Perhaps thats where the confusion is

My personal belief on the subject is that the 'Maro will have the following

DI 3.6l V-6 for Base
LS3 - 403 hp version of the GXP for the Base V8.

Other than that, possibly Gen V in the future. And my guess is as good as anyone's for the Top V8
