Engine failures/low oil levels. Post your current results!

All this talk about engine failures and low oil levels, I checked mine today (as I do every fill-up), here are some pic & stats. Car was driven to hot then shut off for 5 minutes when checked.

Model: 2011 2LT/RS
Build Date: 02/11
Current miles: 5494
Miles on current oil: 3050
1st oil change: 2444 (dealer changed). Will change at 4K intervals at this point
Oil used: Mobile 1 (6 quarts)
Engine Mods: Vmax TB, CAI (CAI), RX Catch Can, ADM Scoop & Rota-Fab washer kit, MRT 2.0.

Daily driver in Florida heat. 100% sport mode and I’d say somewhat hard, no redlining but frequently hit 5K. About 50/50 hw/city

I am seeing little to no loss, and decent color. As you can see my oil level remains in the top cross-hairs.

I haven't seen any loss in oil level. I just ticked over to 26,000 miles and the car was built August 2009. I use synthetic oil and change it every 3,000-3,500 miles.

!4.9K mi, changed at 2, 6 and 12K with amsoil. Build Aug 09

Added 1/2 qt up to now, about 1/3 of that was inside RX catch can.

Frequent 6K+ runs. I would say almost no oil usage

Your thread has been VERY useful. Adding more is just beating a dead horse. It all will be covered in the other threads.

OK, so sometimes my car may not make it out much due to weather, and now that winter is upon us it will make it out even less.

The other day (after car had been sitting for at least 5 days) without starting beforehand I measured the oil. It was halfway in the middle of the markers. Took her out and drove it.

The next day I checked my oil again. Now it was at the top marker so I didn't add any of course.

Now, I've done oil changes since I was old enough to do the work, and I know it is usually OK to check the oil without the need to start up before hand (unless of course you just changed your oil and you need to cycle it first), but if my car has been sitting for an extended period, should I start it up for 30 sec to a minute before hand and then check?

Not to sound ignorant, but is the engine failure supposedly due to low oil or bearing issues? I've heard both reading the various threads..

Lol right. You can avoid it. Unlike h1n1. But this shouldn't scare anyone it is just inform them that it does happen and it will happen with out a low oil level light.

From my understanding the low oil causes the bearing to break which then in turn stops your motor.
