Royal Purple for the AY6 manual tranny
I'm wondering what you guys think about using royal purple 75W90 gear oil for the tranny. The couple quarts I have are for Limited Slip. I don't know if that will make a difference or not. I know lots of the V6 guys here have used RP, I'm just wanting to make sure that I got the right kind. I really don't wanna screw something up.

Try it abd report back. We do use the syn lighter gear lubes in manuals even though GM calls for dex3 auto trans fluid. Or syn trans fluid with some syn lucas added with good results.

WOW... All I can say is wow. I changed the transmission and the rear end to Royal Purple 75W90, and man can I tell a difference. If you have an AY6 and haven't changed the fluid, do it now. The tranny in mine has always been clunky. Now it's buttery smooth. It's unbelievable what a difference it has made. My 1-2 shift at redline used to grind, and was always tough, I had to muscle it in. But not now. It slipped in gear without any effort. It's like a whole new transmission.

awesome to hear. this justifies me wanting to put the same stuff in. plan too change my tranny and diff oil to this stuff.

I would very much recommend it RallyYellow11, It's not terribly expensive if you do it yourself, and it doesn't take much time at all, maybe 3 hours for me to change the oil, tranny gear oil, and differential oil.

Did you put 75w90 gear oil in the tranny or Royal Purple SyncroMax???

Switched to RP Max Gear last summer in transmission and rear end. Drives so much better.
