Guess I'll finally say hi in this thread. I'm not a body builder or a power lifter just lift as a hobby I do for myself. Football got me into lifting when I was 15. I fell off in college and now am back at it.

6'1 227lbs. Am on the Adkins/Keto diet trying to cut down. I know not having a carbs isnt the best for building muscle but it doesn't affect strength much. I used to be a linemen (center) weighing 285 off season and 265/270 on season but had no use for all the extra weight since my playing days are long over.

For maxes I'm not too sure about it since I don't max out very often. Squats last month:405, bench:315, dead lift: I don't do those anymore.

I'm going to try and lighten the mood a little with some lifts from one of my trainees in a powerlifting event this past weekend.

He weighted in at 230.8 pounds... easily under the 231 limit...lol.

Best lifts: Squat 625 lbs, bench 365 lbs, deadlift... my boys best and most powerful lift, new PR for him at 675 lbs. When you say crushing it at 230 lbs, he was doing it. No one even close to him in that weight class, like a few hundred pounds away.

Talk about a proud trainer and trainee.. whoooa! We will be lifting tonight, but I imagine it will be a lot of reviewing of the lifts, as we deload a couple of weeks to get his CNS back on track.

Oh, and his girlfriend I also train, took first in her weight class, and placed third overall for percentage of weight/lifts for the whole event. She also hit a new PR on the deadlift at 320 lbs (her weight 180 lbs). And if I hear her say one more time "I can't lift that, it's too much", I will smack the lips right off of her...lol.
That's awesome!

Now to dampen the mood again.........

Monique was doing box jumps yesterday and tore her achilles. Surgery tomorrow.

God everything just sucks right now

Powerlifter here.

Max lifts are 415 squat, 425 dead, and 275 bench. Lame bench, got hit by a car on my motorcycle and really jacked up my shoulder. Doesn't feel the same even after surgery.

Stats: 6'5" 210lbs

She is. She had just started ramping up the training volume....was in day 2, 13 mins into a 15 min AMRAP of 9 DL's, 12 Pushups, and 15 box jumps when it happened.

Complete tear 5cm from the insertion on the calcanceous (heel) bone.

Hoping to be fully recovered in 4 months. Worst case will be 6 months.

ugh, I feel for her. For her, and people like us, that will be like an eternity. Nothing can be more depressing than being injured and NOT being able to go to the gym and do anything. She will go NUTS. Better get her NETFLIX or something to keep her occupied.

Lol we have Netflix. She actually plans to start back training in 2 weeks with things that won't require her legs. After 2 weeks doc says she can start to put weight back on that leg.

At the surgery center now.

hope all goes well today for her. I know she will be hard to hold back from the gym. At the same time, being at the gym for her, will make her feel better and be uplifting some. It's like a place you just feel comfortable at when you live a large part of your life there.

There is such a big difference between 405 and 455....even 425.

We have all been guilty of jumping too much, but if I were you I'd peck away at it in 5lb increments. Lifting heavy is so much a confidence thing and a PR is a PR. Chances are if you would have tried 410 today you would have gotten it.
