Bank of America, I hate them so...

So I have been with Bank of America for 9 years now. I bought my house, and 3 cars from them. I have 2 credit cards and I always make my payments on time.

For the past 9 years I've always made my payments on time, never was late or bounced checks. Until last week.......

I messed up and carried the 1 over too much and swipped my card 10 too many times, at 35 dollars a pop with their overdraft protection, means I get to pay 350.00 dollars in bank fees.

AND TO MAKE THINGS WORSE is that the things I bought were little crap like a coke.

I call them up and ask them since ive been such a awesome person for them if they can "Take care of it". They said "Sorry sir, its your responsibility to keep track of your card usage."

I understand...I messed up...my bad...lesson learned..... But how can they just crap on me after 9 years, 1 house, 3 cars and 2 credit cards?!?!?!?!

Man im SOOO pissed.

Thumbs up

Yeah, so much for being a faithful customer huh?!? They don't care about us customers. It's a shame.
I saw something like this on the news and thought a couple of the banks did some revising of this issue. Hope you get things worked out.

The banks are financial predators. They re-arrange the oder in which items are charged by charging the most expensive items first instead of the order in which you paid for things. They do this so they can hit you up with more fees...then tell you to watch your own account.

For example you have $100 in your account.

You buy some thing for $10.00, then somthing for $25.00 then something for $5.00 then something for $52.00 then something for $5.00 then $25.00.

$122 total right.

Well you would of went over on the last $25.00 charge.

Wrong, the bank would charge you the $52 then the 2 $25 charges to already put you over, so you pay fees on the $10 and two $5.00 charges. At $30 a pop they just made $90 off you insted of $30.

Its a scam and they finally are changing things.

similar thing happend to me i wanted to change banks so bad but EVERYTHING is on auto pay etc, if its your first time throw a fit and they will work with you, also on the radio the other day i heard that boa and chase were starting this thing were they only charged you two overdrafts and after that they waive the rest becuase the goverment was about to crack down on that kinda stuff so they wanted to get a head start and do it before it was mandatory

Hate to say it but BofA doesnt care to much about you unless you have big money with them...I would go to a local branch and talk to a manager..or you can change your account to private banking and because you have so many accounts with them your monthly fees should be waived...and you get premier treatment

Even though this sounds crazy, I think they really do this. I recently had a similar thing happen where I got charged like 4 $35 overdraft fees. Only time in 17 years with the same bank that that happened. They did initially reverse two of the charges and after a long discussion with the branch manager the reversed the other two as well. I swear though that they setup the order just like Rodimus stated...so the big charge hit first followed by all the little charges.

Not related to banks, but I wanted to share a surprisingly good outcome I had with my cellphone provider: I got my T-Mobile bill and noticed that we were paying over 20 dollars for game downloads. Apparently, my 8 year old daughter downloaded 6 games which instantly makes you subscribe to them. I called T-Mobile to cancel the subscriptions. No problem. However, not only did they cancel the subscriptions, the lady on the phone offered to reimburse us the full amount that we have paid since the subscriptions began 3 months ago (Hubby paid the last two bills w/o noticing the game downloads). So we are getting a credit of nearly $70.00 on our next bill. I was completely shocked and amazed!

i miss my WAMU!!! This happened to me once and the bank took care of it for me just like you were hoping for. Now we have that dang conglomorate chase money hungry mongers. Wamu was just so much more personable and customer friendly.

Same here, but with Wachovia a few years back. I even closed the account and got charged over $300 cause they kicked out an automatic utility bill that shouldn't have happened because the Utility Company sent it to them instead of my new bank. The reason they gave was that the Utility Company put it through to them four times which added up the "non-payment fees" even though the account was closed and they didn't pay anything. Still to this day Wachovia has my credit marked for non payment, even though they payed nothing out...
