It would be easier and cheaper just to buy an actual '69 camaro too, haha.

Since the vert will have rear roll down windows, you have to wonder if it will be possible to retro fit the convertibles rear window hardware to the coupe. But verts also have extra thick or additional bracing in the A pillar and rocker panels areas too.
It would take someone pretty darn talented to make the hardtop into a true coupe. I read Mercedes is planning on bringing a true coupe back, so it's not like it can't be done, but that model is going to be big bucks. But it still wouldn't look as nice a hardtop Camaro |

the b-pillar takes 3-4 inches out of the rear window, so removing it would help considerably.

Definitely able to be done......I have seen many older cars with stationary rear glass turned into "drive-by" windows. I have seen 4dr hardtops turned into award winning 2dr convertible and 4dr Fleetwood turned into one-off 2drs, they can definitely make your rear window roll down if your pockets are deep enough.

They could've given the hardtop model the convertible style frame bracing and rear side window mechanism to enable the rear windows to roll down in the coupes. However, I think it has more to do with cost constraints with the bean counters at GM rather than rollover/ side impact standards. Mercedes has a true hardtop model, but it's $$$$.
The only negative aspect I could see is that it would have increased the curb weight of the hardtop model even more. And, that's one thing the 5th gen did not need was even more weight to have a working rear window. |

Anyone of the award winning custom shops in the country could make this happen.
No one has probably asked them, though.

Kills it. Removing the B pillar would only be acceptable for a "show car". Probably not even street legal without it.

Check out the 2006 5th gen concept. It's a true hardtop not a coupe. I was really disappointed GM added the ugly B pillar. I asked Scott (Fbodfather) about it. He said the pillar was added to get a 5 star crash rating. I also thought someone would have tried to hardtop a 5th gen by now especially since the convertible parts are now available. Nothing yet.

Yet this is another reason I ended up getting the 'vert....
the only thing though.....is that when I get to the point where I have the top up(rarely) and I feel like putting the rear windows down, I just go ahead and put the top down anyways, lol....
