Trofeo tires vs Cup tires on the Z06 would be about a wash. The Z28 might be a close match to the base C7 Vette, but not close to a cup tired Z06. The Z06 has a top speed just shy of 200 and I don't think the Z28 could match even a C6's top speed of 183...gear ratio and drag being the killers. I think the Z28 might beat the ZL1's Nurburgring lap times by a few seconds and it will probably be close to the non-cup tired Z06...we'll see.

Logic tells me that the same engine and lesser weight, lower CD, the Vette should be the winner. I agree, the Z28 should be around 3750 lb for weight. My 2012, 1SS Camaro weighed 3820 and the weight savings on the Z28 should reduce that weight by at least 50 lbs. I'm guessing 3750 on weight.

No matter what, the Z28 is going to be an awesome performer. I'm hoping the price isn't going to be sky high so more of us could afford one.
Well, we don't know what the final HP numbers will be. There was an article thst said the Z/28 would have the lowest power to weight ratio of any Camaro and it would weigh about the same as a 2LT. That puts its weight in the 3,760 lb range. Based on some quick math, I get horsepower north of 530 for the Z/28.

It would be really cool if it was 6.9 (get it?, 1Gen)

I stand corrected. I was going off memory, but just checked my window sticker off the '07 Z06 and you are correct....18x9.5 on the fronts.

They saying Tony Stewart just did a 2:00 lap time on Milford Road Course in the new
2014 Corvette Stingray Z51

Stewart does one more and comes in. His best time is two minutes flat. We debate who's going to break the news.

"Do I get my license? Did I make the cut?"

MacDonald hedges. "We haven't tested this particular car, but we think you'd need about a one-minute, 58-second lap. You did two flat."

Can it be that much faster then ZL1 and Z/28?
or even older Z06?

I am certain that if the ZL1 was tested with the Trofeo tires, the lap times would be closer than 3 seconds apart. I am a big fan of the upcoming Z28. Just waiting to see if I will be able to get one from a near by dealer.

Yes the Trofeo's would shrink the time, however the 3 second remark was months ago and they've continued to develop the Z/28.
