2012 ss m6 1st gear problem
I just bought my ss and it only has a couple hundred miles on it... I have been having a problem where it doesn't always want to go into 1st.. I have been stuck at green lights fighting it to go... is this normal or what could be the problem? thanks

I have not heard of one not going into 1st gear. I would take it back to the dealer and have them check it out.

Yes mine is very tight when it's cold. Just don't force it too hard. I have the hurst shifter and it does seem to break in, I've noticed it soften slightly. I'm at over 2k miles and I haven't noticed it anymore.

Mine is the same way, sometimes when stone cold I can't get it to go into any gear. Once I can get going though, after a mile or so it straightens out. I'm hoping something is just a bit too tight and may break in, I'm still under 1000 miles.

If it doesn't want to go into gear from a stop, try shifting back to neutral, let the clutch pedal back up, depress clutch pedal and try to put into gear again.
Sometimes the gear rotation is stopped due to the syncros and the gear teeth high points are touching preventing gear engagement. |

Same here but I notice its much smoother once I drive it around a bit. I especially have a tough time getting it into reverse backing out of the garage when first started

thats how my issues started on mine... if my hunch is correct they might not have screwed in the pressure plate bolts properly.. drive it carefully and monitor for degradation.. if you feel it happening take it and ask them to check the flywheel..

It's normal and in owners manual. 9-30
My 2000 ss was this way for all 170000 miles. You get used to it. |

Normal when cold and especially before broken in. There are 3 synchro's on 1st & 2nd gear on these trannies. When warm mine shifts like clockwork, and even more so now that it's pretty much broken in.
But yeah DON'T FORCE IT just slightly lift up on the clutch a bit and let it slot into gear. |

This isnt normal, First i would make sure the tsb is at least checked about the pressure plate and other related issues. There has been some sucess with putting a better quality trans fluid in. A guy recently on here has been modifing the stock clutch masters and it seems everyone who has had shifting issue so far has had them fixed with his upgrade clutch master.
Also there is more then 3 synchros in this trans If you give me your vin i can look up warranty and tsb info for your particular car. |

It's totally normal. Same with any manual I've owned. If it gets worse take it in. but it SHOULD get better. |

It should go into gear without forcing it whether its cold or hot. If its cold in your area say 60 degrees or colder just let the car warm up a bit before using it. I know mine feels tight and sometimes hard to get it into gear when its that cold.

When the car is cold and I pull up to a stop light I found that if push in the clutch shift in to 2nt then keeping the clutch pushed in it goes into 1st very easy every time.
