Now, in my case, I've got 4.5" tips (vs. the 3.75" tips of the stock SS) with the SOLO Mach XL kit so there is very little clearance going through the diffuser but I'm not having any issues with melting anything after having driven a few hundred miles.
Agreed... all you need is a very small gap..

It basically looks just like the SS Camaro does (no diffrence) the exhaust opening is the same for both cars even though the rear diffuser is not.

Even the muffler shop was plesantly surprised with the sound it made when i started it back up.
Because I had told them that this setup was to hold me over until I figured out what hi performance set up I was going to go with next year.

They all told me to leave it alone. Lol

If you really want the SS mufflers (I think you guys are crazy) you should be able to find plenty of them at the major peformance shops in your area. Most the guys I know are just leaving them at the shops to be thrown away after getting catback exhausts.

I say crazy because most the SS guys can't wait to get rid of the stock mufflers. Not necessarily because of HP, but because they're big, heavy, and ugly. The exhaust tips are also only 3.75'' and very thin walled.

I know its about saving money, but I couldn't wait to get the stock SS mufflers off my car.

Reason is the ss mufflers are no restriction at all...they are straight thru...they just act as giant resonators to keep the tone down!

Make sure you get the LS3 M6 mufflers. The L99 A6 mufflers (which look identical to the LS3 mufflers on the outside) are all crazy looking on the inside and they are NOT straight though in design. They have crazy piping going in a bunch of different directions to help cancel out the AFM noises.

The LS3 mufflers are straight through in design.
