6sp roll racing. What rpm do I shift at?

I entered a roll racing event. I have never been to a track, or raced on one.
I still have stock axles, rear, stock 3.45 gears, McLeod RXT HD. Only suspension mod is a BMR cradle bushings. Therefore rolls only. Can't afford a broken axle right now.

MH Racemaster 325/40/18

I'm trying to figure out if I want to rev 3rd gear out as high as possible (7200) or shift a bit earlier, so I have more time in 4th gear for more time in the peak torque range. My torque begins to fall off at 6000.

I'm looking to see what the car can trap. I registered for Fun Runs, not comp, but I do want to get the highest trap possible.

This dyno stopped at 155mph each pull. Speed limiter stopped us.

What should I trap? Where should I shift?

Use the gearcal on ls1 tech and figure where you'll come back into the next gear with that, then just find the best average

Thanks for that. With the amount of rpm drop between gears, I guess i should be shifting at 7000.

Now if I can figure out the no lift shift...

Are you doing this on a drag strip or air strip. Roll racing usually hits the start line between 25-30 mph. With your power level and those 18" tires, you will blow them off unless you roll on the power very gradually. Power management will be much more important than short shifting or bouncing off the rev limiters. Try 6000, 6500 and 7000 to see which is better. When you get tired of missing shifts, swap the tr6060 for a 4L80 and upgrade your diff, axles and suspension for some real racing. Dig racing.

Palm Beach International Raceway. TRC Street Kings. 40-50mph starts. Ill be one of the lowest powered cars at the event. I hook fine at 60. Hopefully with good track prep 40-50 will be manageable.

Probably only get two runs in if lucky.

Im not a hardcore racer like you buddy. Just going to see the trap speed and have some fun.

Not sure, but I’m glad they did. It gives people a platform to see the potential in their setups before they invest thousands into what it takes to 60’. Or for primarily street raced cars.

OK, I'm not as hip and up to date as some of you folks but what the heck is "DIG" racing. Anything like traditional drag racing or is there some kind of gardening skills or farm implements used?

That's an impressive 60'.

What's your best trap speed?

I'll assume you're serious. It's regular drag racing. From a dead stop.

Roll racing is pacing each other at 40mph as you pass the tower and go on green (if nose to nose). traction is less of an issue for higher powered cars, and its less hard on parts.

Here's my slip from the one run I got in ALL DAY. TRC even was awful with the rain and confusion. Website has one schedule, Facebook has another, and texting notifications had a 3rd.

I got one run, and unfortunately it was against a (probably stock) new Toyota Supra. He was in the right lane, so it was my job to pace him and watch for the green light. He went slow, my logs show we went green at 33mph (supposed to me 45-50mph). Being just freshly tuned was looking for trap speeds only.

I trapped 143. While thats nice, I felt it should have been just a little higher.

Does the start speed effect the trap speed?
