SS vs. 240 sx

Got a cousin talkin crazy to me...claims his turbo 95' 240 sx running low boost can smoke me. Says he will blow me off the line and guarantees he will beat me through the 1/4 mi. Claims to have beat a new 5.0 already. I know nothing about 240's...what you guys think?

I actually own a '96 240 5 speed. They're alright stock, but guessing he's swapped it for an RB20 or KA turbo motor. Those can get pretty fast, and are pretty light. If he's got an LSx swap, its would be pretty close. There's a 700whp turbo lsx 240 that is fast as f*ck.

What type of engine swap does he have? Pics?

I was thinking about dropping a spare 418ci TT motor I have, now that would be a total sleeper through stock exhaust lol

I'd love to see some video if you actually do match up in the 1/4!

That car with a LSx swap will destroy most everything. If it still has the original motor with a turbo kit I highly doubt he can beat you. There could be so many motor swap combos for that car. Everything from LSx to skyline motor swaps. Need to know which motor is in it.

It's quite common to see ls1 swaps into these cars. I've looked into them, and a kit is only ~$2k plus the cost of the motor. If they are doing an RB20 swap or a KA, then they are making 350+whp, most over 400whp, so I'd watch out for most of the ones with engine swaps.

I didn't know many people were just turboing the stock motor?....unless the 95 had twin cam vs the s13 single cam?

i definetly lost to one at the track a few weeks ago. not sure what he had done...i assume either a boosted KA or an SR20. they're light and if they're making decent power they can be fast. find out what he has done to it and report back......

i miss mine some times....

My buddy had a forged ka24det with a turbo (15 psi) and he would run my 99 t/a (full exhaust and filter) door handle to handle from 60-130. I was able to pull a new (stock) SS on the highway but I see in your sig the you have enough mods that you should be able to beat him. Either way have fun and be safe.

I used to build boosted 240's at my shop for years and depending on what engine it has you could definently be in trouble. SR20 would be your main concern but a boosted KA built properly is also fast. Wouldnt really worry about an rb 20 as they were dogs and it is always possible that he has an rb25 in which case you wouldnt have a chance. These cars were swap monsters and it could have any of these engine so you better ask a few more questions. Just for reference my 95 240 w/sr20 was a high 11 sec car all day long

Look out for the 240SX. You've got to respect a lightweight. Camaros are heavy, and that weight costs us a little time getting down the track.

In college, I knew a guy with a 240SX, and it was a monster. You could hear the BOV for miles.
