Learning about the 4th gen
Just started reading forums So far it seem to take way less power to be fast in these cars vs 5th gen also seems like factory stock bottom ends can't hold what my ls3 can I'm hearing about 550 is max for just about all older and less cubic inch motors (ls1 ls2 lq4/9) and iron block really isn't necessary So my initial idea of a big power 4th gen would have been 6-700 hp turbo car can be lowered down to 500 and still be fast and reliable there's tons of engine choices where should I start my journey

Our cars weigh less . . . in some cases 400lbs less. As long as you get traction beating a stock 5th gen is easy lol All the info you could ever need can be found on LS1Tech.com

Having had both 3rd, 4th and 5th gen Camaros I'd agree that the 3rd, and then 4th gen is in the sweet spot for $$$ to speed. If all you're after is a fast car, then a 3rd gen with a turbo'd junkyard 5.3, TH400, and built 12 bolt will get you really fast, really cheap.
However, you're hard pressed to beat the refinement of the 5th gen, from a nicer interior, to IRS, to a nice firm chassis, it's just a better car all around. So, it depends on what you wanna do. Fast ETs for minimal dollars invested a 3rd or 4th gen is gonna get you there for sure.

I have a 2013 2ss Huron speed turbo ls3 car but wanting to build a 4th gen Im leaning towards the looks of a Firebird with a new forged lq9 short block from cnc motorsports and probably an auto trans this time...Ill go check out LS1Tech for sure

My Slp Lid only 99 LS1 went 13.3 at 106 in great air(-400 da) with a tail wind rear seat and spare deleted.
My 2010 SS stock full weight went 13.08 at 107.82 in +400 DA with a slight headwind. Should have been in the 12's that day. I hit the rev limiter at the 1/8th when I touched the paddles at the start line:(

I don't think I would ever do another set of headers on a 4th or an LS6 intake either You need to be a masochist The 5th has so much more room in the engine bay.

So right now im looking at speed engineering 1 3/4 headers with their true dual axle dump exhaust, But on the fence with btr stage 3 or torquer v2 cam tsp recomended the ms4 i think that wont work well in a street car and a wet shot around 100-150hp. Is it necassary to buy heads. keep in mind this is a dailey driver and probably wont be sprayed very often.

600 HP is the max as I've seen with the 4th gen stock block. A lot of guys have migrated to 408s and/or the iron blocks from the vortex truck motors.
The 4th gens are lightweight (relatively), have stout suspensions and can be very quick with modest power. 4th gens are also no slouches at the autocross. Typically if you intend to do a lot of racing or autocross, you want to install sub frame connectors. From there, you have a lot of choices in terms of mods, parts and accessories.
