The Z06 is...around GM’s Milford Road Course than the Z/28

"The Z06 is 5 seconds faster around GM’s Milford Road Course than the Z/28.

Around the MRC development track, the Z06, equipped with the Z07 package, stage three aero, and automatic, ran a 1:48 lap time. The Z/28? 1:53. This is nothing more than an attempt to encourage the internal rivalry between Camaro and Corvette engineering teams."

Amazing!

A supercharged 2-seater vs. an NA 2+2. No big surprise. Both are excellent.

I would expect the corvette to be faster.

I see this as two different cars, Z06 and the Z07. No different than say 1LE or Z/28 being higher options to the base SS. So what did the regular Z06 run? That is the question, because now, everyone is gonna say Z06, and the Corvette crisis guy is gonna run around in his Z06 thinking/saying it beats the Z/28. If I'm wrong here let me know, but these are two different cars in my opinion despite the options package increase on the Z06 model.

I wouldn't consider the Z/28 an upgraded SS, it is a totally different model. That being said, even comparing the Z06 (w/o the Z07 package) you are talking about a 3500 lb/650 HP car vs. a 3800 lb/505 HP car. The entry level Z06 is probably going to be faster around the track than the Z/28. Don't forget, even the 1LZ comes with the new 8-speed auto (predictive shifting) and magnetic shocks. The Z06 (w/o Z07 package) is capable of 1.1 or higher lateral Gs compared to 1.08 for the Z/28. Braking distances (60-0) are ~120 ft. for the Z/28 and ~100 ft for the Z06 (w/o Z07 package). I just don't see how the Z/28 can be faster than the Z06, even without the Z07 package. Just my two cents worth.

not surprised. It was designed to beat competitors, internal or not.

Yes there won't be a big difference between a Z06 and a Z06/7. Maybe a second.

Camaro is the model, SS and Z/28 are trim levels. The Z/28 beat the base model Vette by 3 seconds at lightning lap!

No surprise at all. Give the Camaro 900 hp and watch it dust the Z06.

Interesting because $7k gets the Z/28 to 650hp. Then drop 100lbs by adding lightweight seats for $2k & lightweight wheels for $4k and I bet the times are pretty close.
