Why "Luxury" Car Buyers are now buying Muscle Cars
I read an article recently about the thread title. It basically said that even people that have driven luxury cars for most of their lives are now starting to buy more and more muscle cars. Basically these more well-to-do guys who usually drive Lincolns or Beamers are attracted to the look of the new muscle cars. When in for a new set of wheels, they hit the Chevy and Dodge dealerships first. After driving the Camaros, Chargers, and Challengers, they realize most are just as powerful as their "luxury" cars. Most don't have all the extra bells and whistles - but these buyers are cool with that because the muscle cars, basically, are more butch - and they like that. Then when these successful guys learn that these good looking muscle cars are 10 thousand, sometimes 20 thousand less their beamers and caddies, they're sold. When former luxury car enthusiasts turned muscle car guys were asked what muscle car looked the best to them, the answer was Camaro. I thought that was pretty cool.

And that's why $40k just gets you started in a Camaro.

I believe that most of us who bought our cars didn't want a ton of bells and whistles we would never use, we wanted something that looks nice, goes fast, and had enough features we wanted.

Got my 2013 2LT/RS for 20k before tax.
Good luck finding a 2013 German coupe with similar options that came on my car under 35k. I found a 2013 A5 that I really liked but it was selling for $37k (4banger with 220ish HP I think) |

Now Now...lets keep some thing in perspective.
The interior quality of the $50k car is leaps and bounds above your $30k. I would know, my wife '15 IS350 puts my camaro to shame in build quality and interior. People don't always measure their cars buy how fast it pulls away from a light. the overall quality is important too. Thats why, on Saturday, I pulled the trigger for a new Lexus NX SUV. While I enjoy my Camaro....thats enough of Chevy for me. I"m going back to where I feel comfortable for daily driving, JDM (Camaro continues being my garage queen).

Yes. The 2016 ZL1 will essentially be a re- body of this car.

Agreed...went from Infiniti to Lexus and then got my Camaro. Luxury is great n all but there was something about the appeal of a "cool" looking car that went decently fast and I could have fun with. I do miss the luxury quite often...but I'm hoping that a CTS-V sedan can fix that one day soon.
