Strange noise when shutting the passenger door - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Noises are awfully hard to describe, but it isn't the "normal" thunk noise, there is a metallic ring to it, and only on the passenger side. I have noticed it since getting the car in November, but am loath to take it to a dealer. Wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and if there are any adjustments that can be made.

maybe the window hitting the top of the door frame? The auto-indexing isn't perfect, if you're quick on the doors

Does it sound like metal scratching metal, or more of like a tuning fork?

I have heard more of a tuning fork noise myself.

The tuning fork noise probably means there's a piece of metal loose in the door panel somewhere, and it's vibrating when you close the door. I wouldn't have a clue what could possibly be the culprit for that, though...

Try lowering the window and closing it slowly from inside and out to see if it's hitting anywhere.

Do you have a sunroof in it? Mine does the same thing only when shutting the passenger side door. I have been meaning to take in in, but I have not taken the time to do so.

There was a strange sound from my passenger door, too. It seems I closed the
darn thing on my wife's foot. You can imagine where she put her good foot in retaliation... I made a sound, too!:(

Mine has the metal to metal noise and believe or not it's the sunroof when shutting the passenger door.
