Arrow It's been 6 years... LLT vs LFX Durability

In 2012 the Camaro went from the LLT to the LFX engine, which has 11 HP more & weighs 20 lbs less. It's been a few years, so which engine has proven to be more reliable? Is there a difference in dependability?

I money shifted my first LFX at 62,5xx, my current has been in my car for another 40k, never had an issue with either (sans money shift, LOL)

I believe only the early 2010 LLT Camaros had any kind of real issues, and once the timing chains (and whatever related components, I don't remember what exactly) were changed, the V6 platform hasn't had any other major issues.

I had about 40k miles on my 2011 2LT before i sold it with no engine or transmission issues. The same applies to my current 2010 2LT which has now 85k miles with none of the above either. Both vehicles just went in for normal routine maintenance.

I have just shy of 80,000 miles on my '13 LFX, regular oil changes first with DEXOS, the last couple of years with AMSOIL XL and no issues. No trans issues at this point either, just a change from factory fill to AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR about 35,000 ago.

I thought GM changed the oil change interval algorithm on the LLT at some point because it was too long or something? I'm sure the number of failures are rather small but its the bad news that gets reported more often than not.

I’m at 42k miles with my LFX and I bought it at 36k. So far, no real issues. However, my CEL did come on for about 15 seconds and then went away a few days ago. I’m pretty sure my oil pressure just got too high because I gunned it to pass somebody and I had already driven a few hundred miles on my way to the beach. Other than that, no problems.

My LLT engine has ran strong with over 17 PSI of boost on stock pistons. Too bad the 6L50 transmission wasn't as strong, broke the input shaft on it. The LLT also survived 8300 RPM'S when that happened

15K on my '12 with one issue so far.

The torque converter was replaced under warranty with a '13/'14 TC at roughly 8700 miles. Known issue on the '12s consisting of a rumble when cruising around the 41 to 44 mph range but fixed on the '13s. Engine just purrs.

I haven’t done much research on those motors, but 8300 rpm is quite a lot.
