Mazda 3 sells fine. Astra would've sold all right as well if the interior/powertrain had been better.

Oh, and what about Vibe and Matrix? Gotta replace Vibe with something.

Hmmmmm, I know you are an American so that can't be why

Define a "hit". Don't get me wrong a fine automobile, but a "hit" would be can't make enough of them.

Add up the hatch backs that count, Mazda 3, Subaru, ummmmmmmm there was a Focus in the previous generation...........gosh even the Subaru competitor from Mitsubishi is a NB.

They just don't sell.

Again, define "fine". And why do I have to replace the Vibe........it sold like poop also.

I like 'em. Europeans LOVE 'em. But they are noisier, your stuff isn't as secure.

Heck the only thing that sells wors is station wagons.

So this is just a numbers thing, hatchbacks don't sell.

I still think it's a mistake. Hell, even Ford's bringing a new Focus hatch with the 2012 model.

Well you simply have to ask if you it's worth the money............if it was your business. Would you spend millions upon millions to sell 10,000 hatch backs? or 20,000? The volume would be low and the cost high to build it in Lordstown. So it's just business. And who knows.............................

Then you could always import from Holden or Europe.

I just think that if Ford sees a market here, then we need something as well. Plus, it would serve to replace some cars in the lineup, especially now that we aren't getting the Orlando, there's going to be a lack of a small cargo carrier once the HHR goes away.

Wait.............what? You think the Cruze hatch is a "cargo carrier"? Fen, that's one of the reasons Americans don't like hatch backs.........there is less room.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it here. But there are good reasons why it might not be.
