It is possible but I have a feeling it will be in the 38-40k range for a 400hp maro.

My brother in law stopped by a Dodge dealership the other day to look at a new SRT Challenger. He said the price was $42,000 and they added an addition $20,000 to the price for what they called a "Hard to Find Car Fee"
$62,000 for a new Challenger in my neck of the woods. I hope they don't do this to the Camaro next year. |

my son works at a Dodge dealership and they have just delivered 5 challengers to customers over the last week. They are selling them at $10,000 over invoice in St. Louis. The price is ending up at $55,000.

I just drove the 08 Challenger SRT8. They are fast, but it has no muscle car feel when you start it and drive it. It reminds me of the sound of a foreign car, it's kinda whinney. Just not that impressed. The body of the car is awesome.
But when I got back to my 2000 camaro SS and started it up I said "Now that's a muscle car". Nothing like the sweeeet sound of a 350 Chevy engine. I don't care what the horse power. |

Although the Challenger R/T has 380-hp, thanks to the curb weight (north of 4000 lbs) it goes from 0-60 in just under 6 seconds; by comparison, my 320-hp Mustang GT (with some small mods) will run it in 5 flat, and it was $4,000 cheaper to boot. I'll be honest, I love the styling of the Challenger, and Dodge's decision to make it such a porker brings tears to my eyes (not because of the safety features as much as the huge platform they chose to build it on), and the fact that I can spend less money and get a faster car with a non-boring interior doesn't bode well for the Challenger; especially not in a market that's all about speed and good looks for cheap. |

Oh and the mustang's interior isn't that great either. Look at the new RT seats with the ripples in them. IMO I would much rather have a better exterior than interior. Since when have muscle car interiors looked good? That is what modding is for. |

So while my six second estimate is probably three-or-so tenths high, the fact remains that my $25k 320-hp Mustang GT has the same 0-60 time as the $40k 425-hp Challenger SRT-8, and gets about 7mpg better to boot. That's a no-brainer anyway you slice it. Again, I love the styling of the Challenger, I really do. I have no doubt that one in black will look absolutely bad-ass. However, I'm not as concerned with interior, otherwise I'd buy a C-series or something. I want the most fun car I can get for the cheapest price, and right now the Mustang beats the Challenger hands-down. ...but I'm looking forward to the Camaro. Let's hope they make it tough for the Mustang and price it aggressively. |

Yea I completely agree, the mustang gets close due to its weight but I love the challengers style plus the mustang gt doesn't have a great top end and the srt8 does. If they both run for a mile the challenger will take off after the 1/4 or so and from a roll same thing. That is the difference to me. But all these cars are great, the camaro will be great as well can't wait to see one n the road.

Confused!!!!!
Why is everyone comparing what we know to be the 2010 Camaro SS to the Chanlleger SRT8?
So far we only know of one V8 camaro which is there to compete against the Mustang GT and the Challenger R/T not the SRT8. So If you look at pricing. Camaro V6 vs Mustang V6 vs Challenger V6 Camaro V8 (SS) vs Mustang V8 (GT) vs Challenger V8 (R/T) Camaro V8 (Z28) vs Mustang V8 (Rouch/Boss) vs Challenger V8 (SRT8) Don't for get about the Corvette base coupe starts around $43k. Camaro V6 needs to be in the low 20's Camaro V8 (SS) needs to be upper 20's to low 30's Camaro V8 (z28) needs to be priced in high 30's to low 40's
