The coupler is fine and a new one will not fix the problem so save your money on that. You can see where it is hitting pipe, what I would do is take a hammer and lightly tap in a dent where it is hitting to give you the clearance you need.

there is a thread on here where they talk about dimpling the exhaust for clearance. They ran dyno tests with no change in performance before and after.

Why wouldn't you just order one from GM, its a simple replacement..

If you just had the exhaust installed, I'd take it back to them and make them dimple the tubes for clearance if needed.

Convertibles also have an extra brace or two underneath which is one reason why you're shopping for exhaust for a convertible, you MUST specify it's for a convertible.

The two clearance dents in you exhaust in the picture makes me wonder if there isn't supposed to be a chassis brace there, requiring the clearance dents.

Any decent shop would never a car to leave with the exhaust rubbing the driveshaft coupler.

I believe giubo is the proper name for the part that is rubbing.

I ran into the same problem last summer when I tried to install a Stainless Works catback exhaust on my 2013 Zl1 convertible. I purchased the Stainless Works convertible kit and the giubo still hit the exhaust. The installer and I worked for 2 days to get the catback to fit without rubbing. I sent pictures and emails to Stainless Works but we just couldn't get enough clearance to keep the giubo from rubbing on the exhaust. I know what you mean when say it makes an awful noise when it hits the exhaust.

I attributed the issue to my convertible being lowered and changing the angle of the rear suspension. Never considered putting a dent in the exhaust to make it clear the giubo.

You can see from the photo how close the giubo is to the driver's side exhaust pipe. There was sufficient clearance on the passenger side. Where I have circled is where the giubo hit the pipe. It would mostly strike it on 1st to 2nd gear shifts when the drive shaft would flex.

Even though the exhaust was on my car for a total of 10 miles, the company I bought it from wouldn't take it back. I ended up selling it for a loss and buying a replacement OEM exhaust to put back on my car.

The convertible can be a major pain when it comes to 3rd party parts because of the added bracing. It's one of the main reasons why I went to coupe with my 6th gen ZL1 instead of buying another convertible.

Good luck. Wish I could offer more assistance.
