Neglected car detail.

Hey guys!

My little brother just bought this Hummer H3 from my uncle. Needless to say this hummer hasn't been washed the entire time he owned it, which has been 2 years or so. He lives up in the backwoods up a muddy gravel driveway. With red clay EVERYWHERE. This hummer spent some time under a carport and some out in the elements. I have honestly never encountered an interior as bad as this. It had red clay imbedded in the floor matts and red clay dust all over everything on the inside. Needless to say this took a long time.

Products used:
Adams car shampoo
Wheel whoolies and wheel brush
Sonax wheel cleaner
Dry me crazy drying towel
Eagle pro edge less towels
Poorboys natural dressing
Clay bar
ONR dilution for clay lube
Standard scrub brush
Adams total interior cleaner
Ammo leather lather
Interior brush
Adams detail spray
BFWD sealant
Meguires #26 carnauba wax
Didn't use my good merino mit on this one. Just used two "wool" mits from Wally World. Did the job fine.
No paint correction done. There are many scratches, but white hides them well.
Stoners Invisible Glass
Razor blade
Meguires D101 APC dilution

Exterior cleaning: Started by scrubbing the wheels and tires. Used my wheel whoolies and a tire brush. The wheels to my surprise and great satisfaction weren't that bad to clean. The fuel wheels have an extremely hard coating and allowed me to clean easily. The tires are another story, years of red clay baking into the rubber was a very exhausting process to clean. So much scrubbing.... I will definitely be buying a brush for the tires for my PC... Then a two bucket wash with grit guards was next. I used some Adams soap on the paint as well as the wheels. The two wool mits worked well on the paint although some places the containments were really baked on so I used a small steam machine to help loosen the dirt. That worked perfectly. After that long process and having to rinse the mitt after every swipe the paint was clean so it was pulled inside. The hummer was dried by a dry me crazy towel and Adams detail spray. I then clayed the entire car with some mothers clay bars, and a ONR dilution. I was honestly surprised it wasn't worse than it was. I was expecting horrible contamination, but overall it was much better than I thought.

It was coated with BFWD and allowed to cure for 12 hours. I buffed it off with 2 eagle edge less towels. The same was done with the Meguires #26 wax, but obviously no wait for curing.

All of the trim was dressed with poorboys natural look. I really like this stuff, although I realize this isn't a durable coating it does look really nice. I plan on getting some UTTG in the future for a more durable dressing. The tires were also coated with this, and gave a very nice black look with no shine.

Interior cleaning:
The interior was just a mess. Clay everywhere on the dash, trim, in the carpet, and on the windows. I started by pulling out the floor matts. I vacuumed them, sprayed a slight mist of Adams Total Interior Cleaner on the carpet and scrubbed away. I'm very impressed with this interior cleaner. Made very quick work of the interior. The matts came out clay free. Sadly the drivers side floor matt was lost at some point, so the drivers side carpet was covered with crud. I wish I would've gotten a better picture of it. I essentially did the same thing just inside the car.

I repeated this process over every carpeted surface. I also vaccummed the carpet after scrubbing obviously to remove the agitated clay and to remove any cleaner in the carpet.

I cleaned the leather with interior cleaner and a microfiber first to get the dust and clay off. I then used my AMMO leather lather(love this stuff!) with my interior brush and it helped reduce wrinkles in the leather as well as removing skin oil and other more "embedded" containments. The leather was vaccummed before and after then dressed with Poorboys Natural Look. My brother preferred a shinier look so I didn't buff the product off with a microfiber, I simply just let it dry. Too shiny for my tastes but it's not my vehicle .

The dash and door pannels were sprayed with interior cleaner then whipped with a microfiber to remove the bad layer of clay dust. Then it was also scrubbed with my interior brush and whipped clean again. I coated that with Natural Look as well, again not buffing for a shinier look.

The Dreaded Windows...

I cleaned the front glass using Larry's method. Squirt window cleaner on the window, scrape with a razor blade, wipe, spray more cleaner, clay bar, wipe clean again, and you have yourself a surgically clean window.
Here's the link for anyone that's interested:

The rest of the windows including the inside were simply spray wipe until dry and repeat until clean and streak free.

I am sorry I will have to upload pictures one at a time since I am on my phone. The picture below is obviously edited lol. Hope you guys like!

I leaned the "football feild" trick from Larry at AMMO nyc. He really dug it.

Drivers side after:

The brush in the picture was NOT used on the leather. A soft boars hair brush was used.
The leather had not been cleaned in this picture.
Also wanted to note that I scrubbed the pedals after this picture was taken.

APC dilution was used on this. I'll throw that onto the list.

Would also like to say the trim in the bottom of the picture was cleaned after this picture. It was being blocked off by the huge spare mud tire lol.

Trunk with clean matt in it!

The scuffs on the word hummer are actually into the plastic not dirt.

Hood before cleaning:

This stuff was really sticky, no telling how long it had been on the paint.

Thank you CD07. Definitely the toughest interior I've ever worked on.
