Question Coolant alternatives to GM made one ?

Hi guys,

Am looking at coolant alternatives to GM made one Dex-Cool ? I'm from Europe and to make matters worse from a country that has only exDaewoo Chevy dealers who turn pale at the sight of a Camaro.

I damaged my radiator and sprung a leak so after replacing all the parts i would like to do a flush with distilled water and fill with a correct coolant.

The problem is i can't source Dexcool within reasonable delivery costs, what other brands and types of coolants would you recommend ?

GM/Ac Delco stuff is out of the question i would have to ship it from the US or the UK.

Thanks !

If you completely flush the system you can convert to standard ethelyne glycol 50/50 mix. It's available everywhere.

There are many brands of Dexcool.

I wouldn't use anything other than Dexcool in a system that started life with Dexcool. The two types are incompatible.

I can't imagine there are zero brands of Dexcool in whatever country you are in. All the major antifreeze companies have a version of Dexcool. Valvoline has a version called Zerex, their website says it's available in over 100 countries.

Buy dexcool concentrate and mix with distilled water. May be able to have less shipped from US.

Have you tried looking for an orange silicate-free coolant that meets GM specifications for Dexcool? Maybe some local auto parts supply has it.
