Wider rear tires?

What options do i have? i would like to get something wider mainly for a more agressive look. Is there a downside to doing this? Is it even possible to get a wider tire on the stock wheel?

You can go wider on the tires for a slightly larger contact patch and aggressive look if you want, but not by much. Once you get to the 305 and 315's, you will actually loose performance among other things because the contact patch will change from the tires being squished onto the wheel.

IIRC, 295 tires are about the maximum width you can go before people have started having issues. If you stay at 295 or below, there isn't a downside that I know of, except for maybe tire prices might jump a little.

Give this thread a little more time and someone is going to tell you that you can run a 315`s on stock rims. DON`T DO IT!

Here`s the link to that discussion, I`m sure one of those who believe it`s OK to run 315`s on stock rims will also respond to this thread too.

Im running 315's on an 11" wheel with no rubbing issues, closest it comes to rubbing is the inner liner but there is easily 3/4" to spare. I can't safely answer whether or not widening the wheel will make it possible since you would be changing the offset by widening it. Other people have had them widened though so do a search for it.

There's a sticky up top from Nineball who has a table to figure out what size tires you want.

@567234ta, I am have 315/25/22's on my car with no issues and no fabrication at all. My car is also lowered, still with no issues.

Here you go if you're looking to retain the same height as the stock wheels/tires. This is the recommended tire sizes.

wider tires

I need a tire for the drags that I can also run on the street. Im hopping for 10 to 10.5 inch width. Any suggestions? I want to stay with stock rims if possible
