I have used a 80 gig classic and now have the 160 gig classic. Works perfectly! A few glitches where the car won't pick it up even though it has been plugged in the whole time, but I just unplug the iPod and plug back in and now problems.

I have the first gen ipod that was made (reprogrammed?) for a PC. We just leave it in the car. Never had any problems. The iphone on the other hand, not so good
