*Video inside* Bolt on SS vs. near stock ZL1
Hey guys. Last trip to the strip was September 2016 and the car went 12.79 @ 111mph (2.04 60'), so it was time to make some more passes and see where I was at.
Last fall I was fighting a really difficult 1-2 shift (it would grind if rushed at all) with the Hurst Billet Plus Two shifter that was in the car when I bought it, so I installed an Ideal Garage high volume clutch master cylinder to attempt to cure this - no help (it did improve the clutch feel and pedal height 100x, just wasn't my root cause issue). I then reverted to a stock SS shifter and it made all the difference in the world. I can still get a grind on a maximum effort 1-2 shift (ie. more aggressive than in the video) but as long as I'm reasonable it shifts just fine. The Hurst had really worn out bushings and just couldn't get the right amount of pressure on the syncro - I guess. I was able to run a 12.74 @ 112.90 mph, on a 2.13 60'. I didn't pick up much ET, but an honest 2 mph increase tells me I'm getting my gears shifts a lot better. I think 113mph (it was consistently that fast) is pretty good for a bolt on LS3. I'm still on crappy Delinte D8 Desert Storm all seasons - which I think (along with rear sub-frame/diff bushings) is my limitation at this point - any more aggressive on the launch on wheel hop becomes an issue, especially as track temps cool later into the evening. I did cut a 2.0 60' on my last pass - went for the hero 1-2 shift and ground/locked out, and probably cost myself at 12.5x slip - oh well, something to shoot for next time. BTW - some have said you can leave your SS in 3rd gear through the beams - not the case for me. I'm into the limiter right at 111mph - tried it twice, at about 1200'. If I grab 4th I can get a few more MPH. Probably my tires aren't a full 28.66" that a 275/40/20 is supposed to be. The ZL1 was making his debut in that car at the track, I thought a 12.2 @ 117mph was pretty solid. Eagle F1 G2's get really difficult as the track temp goes down. Overall a fun evening.

I would think you'd be down closer to 12.0 with that level of power.

The best ET to date was a few weeks ago on a crappy 2.138 60'. I did cut a 2.03 on my last pass of the evening but missed my 1-2 shift for the first time in a few months going full hero - might have gone a 12.5x. I have to be pretty careful on my launch or I'll introduce wheel hop - and I'm not interested in breaking parts. I just picked up another diff with a 4.10 gear-set this weekend. With such a heavy car, I'm hoping that'll help me leave without as much time in the friction zone while still keeping away from a bog. I'm putting solid bushings in while it's on my bench, which should quell some of the wheelhop too. Overall if I can cut some consistent 2.0-1.95's on street tires I'll be mid/low 12s and plenty happy. It definitely should MPH better, it's having to go to 4th at about 1200 foot as it is now and crossing at about 4700rpm - with the 4.10 it'll be about 5600rpm - hoping for 114mph.

I ran toe to toe with a zl1 when I was 440rwhp and would have walked him at my 470. I recently totaled my car so deciding on what adventure I want to take next. 4.10 will really help you out but the rpm range with torque multiplication needs to be extended for full use of the gear to 7k+ have fun OP!

I think your still going to have to slip the clutch due to how heavy these cars are. I just revved mine to 6500 and came off with a very quick slip due to my clutch type and was getting 1.7 60'

Yea, I agree that that I'll probably have to still ride it out to some extent - just hoping to get the whole thing faster, stay out of the bog easier, and just put the power down. Tires are really what I should be looking at next.
