A unique one-off 2012 Camaro ZL1 was auctioned off tonight at the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction in Las Vegas, NV. This particular model will be the only 2012 Camaro ZL1 in Carbon Flash Metallic. It will also feature a VIN that honors the original ZL1’s – a VIN ending in 00069. Only 69 of those first ZL1’s were produced in the 1969 model year. All proceeds from the auction’s sale will benefit the YMCA of Southern Nevada.

The winner was Rick Hendrick with a bid of $250,000!

man rick is one lucky person. did you notice the underside was painted red and the engine bay was still red.

That was nothing to him... a tax write off. He can now write of $200,000 or so. When you have that much money you have to spend it or Uncle Sam gets it...

Whats not to believe with Rick Hendrick involved anything is possible and buyable when it comes to Camaros and Corvettes. The outcome was known as soon as this was announced. Am I the only one that wants one of those kool ZL1 Hats & Shirts they were wearing? Hurry up Chevymall.com and put some Camaro ZL1 shirts and clothing up in time for Christmas!

That was not the actual vehicle Hendrdick will get. It was a Prototype and only reprsentative of what he would get.

So, none of what you saw was final.... all the potential changes we all know about might be on the final vehicle... such as cold air intake scoop etc etc etc

God that's a beautiful car...that angle from the top is amazing. Really cool how under the hood was red. Really curious if that's because of the whole "SS turned ZL1 for testing" or what. I noticed the one in the video on the Chevrolet site had it as well. Might be cool if that was an option on certain colors. Who knows.

He can only write off the difference of what the ZL books out for and what he paid for the car. so, If msrp is 60k and he paid 250k, he can write off 190k

Speaking of write offs, his race team could write off as in wreck a 50K cup car every weekend for ten months out of the year and not bat an eye.
