Declined picking up IOM M6 ZL1...Someone else will get a "used" one

Went to go pick up the ZL1 I ordered back in September...it finally arrived. I get there and am told the big metal buckle swinging on a nylon strap used to hold the car above mine on the carrier "came loose". It was bouncing on the passenger side fender and hood for what could have been 50 miles... Dinged, scrached paint.....sheeze...

The dealer said they would send it to the body shop and repaint and fix the whole fender. We didn't discuss the hood which had swirl marks also caused from the metal buckle. The general sales manager whom I was told would call "first thing in the morning" to discuss this didn't even bother calling me. (I paid in full for the car on 12/31/12 to get the extra $500) No big deal to him "He was busy".

So, I just cancelled the purchase with him and will reorder at another dealership. He seems that "he's really busy" so he has too much business. Everyone else at this dealership was great.

So, depending on how Carfax works (and as busy as this manager is) I'm sure it will get fixed and sold as NEW. Had 8 miles on it off the truck.

Another disturbing site was when this ZL1 came off the truck it had about two handfulls of ROCK SALT all over it from apparently the car above it when it was loaded.....WOW.

So heads up any new buyers up in Northern IL. A "Used" ZL1 will be hitting the market soon.

I have a feeling that the sales manager already spent the sales profit from selling your car to you .
Now , how hard it will be for you to get Your money back from this guy ?

Yes, Paid in FULL....I was told a week ago that it "was on the truck" so any minute it was going to pull into the dealership. The $500 rebate for a Camaro expired 1/02/13. I had to work that day, so no option if I wanted the rebate.

If the Federal law is still in effect regarding the three day recision period on contracts, which I believe is...done deal.

Who would have guessed in your wildest dreams this would happen?

To me $500 is a lot of cash and I'd do it again...just me.

Did some research on this topic a little while back, even consulted with an attorney, and no such protection could be found. Specifically those laws give you an out if you buy the item anywhere but the sellers regular place of business. (example, an auto show or convention where dealer is selling on a temporary basis), but if you walk into their place of business and cut a deal by signing contracts, you're committed; unless of course the dealer decides to release you. Interested to hear if you can go this route and get it resolved. If so, please share with all of us on the forum in case we need a good reference.

Best of luck to you in achieving a happy ending. I know it musta hurt bad to see what happened to your baby....

Not sure how it works south of the border but it may turn out to be the most expensive $ 500 bucks you ever saved.

Sucks when you wait all that time for your car to arrive and when it does it's damaged.
