K&N aircharger intake

So I just bought a K&N cold air intake off a buddy for $20, I believe it's the one that throws the check engine light, the AirCharger kit, but not sure, there are numbers on the blak plastic intake tube (087233).. It makes the chek light come on on his car, I was wondering if anyone with the same intake made it work without having CEL light to come on, besides getting a tune, or did they find the cause of CEL light...anyway I figured if take my chances for $20 and install it later today. The black hose on the intake tube is not from k&N so I was thinking if I secure it good enough w/ no leaks I might get lucky. Any tips, info would be appreciated, can't wait to see how it makes my borla Atak sound

The K&N Typhoon was the one members were replacing the black on with.
