First oil analysis from my CPO 2015 LS.

Bought my 2015 Camaro LS in November with 17k miles, and over the course of 2 months, I put around 6,700 miles on it, and had to replace about 2 quarts of oil. I wasn't sure what the dealer was running, so I keyed in Valvoline to Blackstone., but I'm now running Amsoil Signature Series Full Synthetic 5w30 and a WIX filter.

Just thought I'd share my results so that anyone considering Blackstone could have a look at what they'll receive.

In 6700 miles you had to add 2 qts of oil. That would concern me. Is that why you are testing/analyzing the oil?

Your SS V8 engine is way different than the V6 with DI/VVT. Lot more soot is produced and reports of more oil ingestion with the V6; oil gets dirty faster.
My V6 oil would get dark alarmingly fast and noticed higher oil consumption compared with my V8.

I just bought a new 2016 Equinox with the V6 so now I'm interested in all the info concerning the LFX. I plan on putting lots and lots of miles on it. Great info on this forum.

Thanks for both of your replies. GMTool, I'm actually into analysis because I like to monitor internal component wear as best as possible. Kinda like an early warning indicator for future problems, in my opinion. And yeah the 3.6 LFX kinda has a bit of an oil ingestion issue, nothing crazy though.

Oh, I forgot, and should have noted that I believe the car came from the dealer about a quart shy, so that was likely a fill miscalculation.

On average I have gotten my results in 5-7 days (have sent 8 samples between 2 vehicles over the past few years).

My sample was held up by USPS for a week, but after it finally hit delivered, it was probably 4-5 days or so.

How do you use the data?

Do you know the material make up of normal wear parts or use historical experience? My low mileage (21.5K) SS 2010 is also using a lot of oil. I just bought it and had to put in 2 quarts oil after 1000 miles (pretty hard driving) - but 2 quarts? Here are a couple of interesting threads:
